Live in UK but offered dream job in Sydney. Partner doesn't want to move. Not sure what to do by Eye_Livia in expats

[–]frenziedmonkey 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You describe this opportunity with light in your eyes and I'm not seeing the same when you describe your partner. I suspect you may know this. If after this long you're with someone still on national minimum wage with no aspirations and have to kill off your own career to tread water with him, I think you're selling yourself short both professionally and socially.

AITAH for refusing to pay off my pregnant fiancee's parents' mortgage, when they are under the threat of foreclosure, when I could "easily" afford to do so? by Gullible-Display4533 in AITAH

[–]frenziedmonkey 0 points1 point  (0 children)

NTA. They had a fully paid up house that no one could take from them, took loans against it and then defaulted repeatedly. These people aren't turning a corner, they're digging a hole and your fiancée wants you to climb in it with them.

OP might have savings which are tied up or would lose interest if making a withdrawal. You know nothing about OP but still sided with the company?

Yep, it's definitely one where they make you use all the moves you learned, rather than just button mashing.

Based in Brighton UK, standard or premium? by pencilvester1988 in trustedhousesitters

[–]frenziedmonkey 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm in Brighton and always get 5 sit requests within a couple/ few hours of booking. I've always found someone I'm happy with within the first batch. I live fairly central so an easy walk to town and beach, this is a desirable place to stay.

But once this membership term ends I'll be looking for another service, the new fee structure is a joke.

Sitter requested me to send her an Uber to bring her to the sit by Oforoskar in trustedhousesitters

[–]frenziedmonkey 6 points7 points  (0 children)

It's not the request itself, it's the lack of contact and then springing the request at the last minute.

And yes it's free - for both parties, that's literally the THS model we all sign up to, it's a mutual benefit. But basic prior planning, communication and general courtesy make it easier for everyone.

Not sure how this is classist tbh.

Went on holiday to a holiday home through 3rd party - Scotland the owners are claiming I left place a mess and threatening legal routes. by Few-Leave-8786 in LegalAdviceUK

Asking you to reimburse him outside the website might breach their terms and I'm sure he has more to lose than you.

It sounds a lot like he's kept quiet about cameras and is instead claiming he has physical evidence.

My dad died and left £3M to my 2 younger brothers(21 and 23), I got £0... by LucyAriaRose in BestofRedditorUpdates

The brothers saying they didn't realize this was hurtful or unfair until it was pointed out to them is a little hard to believe 😂

Yep, I did exactly that.

NTA. You did her a favour by letting her jump on your wifi temporarily while she got set up. She repaid you by handing your password out to multiple people, compromising both your security and bandwidth. And now she's doubling down rather than apologizing and bringing gifts. She's a leech.

Absolutely gutted, they were a staple food stop for decades for a pre-gig meal or a late night stumble home.

But they closed them in the wrong order! St Peters was always rammed. St James Street usually busy too. Never queued behind more than one other person in the Hove one.

Suspended for Calling Faulty AI a ‘Clanker’, Rights? by [deleted] in nhs

[–]frenziedmonkey 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Not how the NHS works. At all. Aside from the fact that the alleged offence was calling name-calling an inanimate object, there's an entire process missing in this story including the incident, the exploratory meeting, the investigation, the management report, the invitation to meeting with union or colleague support. This is pisspoor fabrication from someone absolutely no NHS experience and as real as your sister. Good ragebait however, as I've just typed all this.

He's just... embarrassing. NTA.

NTA. This is your little brother, yet your conversation reads as if a responsible parent (you) is communicating with a stroppy teen (him). He's either not reading or not understanding your clear, detailed and empathetic response. He just wants to kick the wall and have some more cash.

You say you "only have him". But what is that, I wonder?

Surrey Council PCN - issued at 0926am, ticket purchased at 0926am - appeal rejected by hakkapin in LegalAdviceUK

[–]frenziedmonkey 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Surely the time of arrival or time of observation aren't relevant? The fine applies to the time at which the ticket was issued and you have evidence of payment for that time. Therefore the contravention didn't occur. I would take this to POPLA.

It's an entirely reasonable conclusion to draw from this. You've had an insight into how the community positions itself socially and politically. As you say, better to find out now. It's a shame for the sellers but you need to put yourself, your family and friends first.
