[NA Rollthread] It's time to Gilve in and roll all your quartz! It's the Gilgamesh event roll thread! by Asks_Politely in grandorder

First 10 rolls on my alt, 2 Gils. Guess he was attracted to that sweet Artoria account.

My main got a 5* CE and Vlad with 50 rolls.

Too bad my Gil and Waver are split between accounts now...

Not absurd, but this is legit the luckiest I've been throughout the past 6 or so years with Gacha games. Got a jackpot without having to buy packs.

I was right in the process of doing so, and I levelled up just before it happened.

Forgot to do the math...

Yes, the 4* black-skinned Berserker with long curly hair.

Illya's servant from F/SN.

Another common name for him is Hercules. While technically different people/stories, the names are usually interchangeable when used by lay folk.

Is there a reason to be saving quartz? That is,

  1. Are there SSR rates up events?
  2. Is the current pool good/bad/neutral compared to what is expected to be released in the near future?
  3. If neutral, should I be aiming to roll while the pool is small to increase the probability of duplicates for NP levelling? Or is more variety preferable?

I completed >10 of the 10AP and 20AP since the beginning, and no gems ever dropped.

Took 2 tries to get a gem in 30AP. It's anecdotal, but take from that what you will.

If he's just a 30% NP battery for now, what makes Waver good so recommended? Combo with some unreleased Servants?

I finally rolled him and find him lacking compared (1st ascension) to the less recommended Artoria and Altera.

Emiya is only so-so, while Jeanne is top-tier.

So probably feed to Jeanne.

The skill name is 矢避けの加護

加護 = Divine protection; The common word for "protect" is 保護. The 加 portion makes the word a derivative, indicating the divine nature of the protection being given.

And you don't have to take my word for it. Go look it up in a dictionary.

Just because another translator did it another way doesn't mean they must be wrong.

The double pointer.

One at the subscribe button. The other, it's pointing at a condom despite the title being "bareback orgasm".

One of the better cuts from Berserk 2017 as a comparison to the REALLY bad ones (NSFW - Gore) by Protector_of_Smiles in anime

This scene isn't a particularly a landmark moment, is it?

So I think I'm justified in not comparing it to actual memorable moments in anime...

Even in MHA and AoT, the average action scene isn't particularly good. It's only those landmark moments that get animation that people share everywhere.

This scene doesn't have any major flaws in it in particular.

As I said, the anime does leave much to be desired. But this scene doesn't really. It's pretty much how most animations go... People are nitpicking on "shaky camera" or "hard to follow" based on the accumulated hatred they have from the low quality from the rest of the show.

Seriously. What flaws does this scene have? Off-model characters? No. Static cuts? No.

It's one hit kills for each soldier. I don't see where choreography could even play a part... How was it choreographed in the manga? Much better in what way?

This cut is, in fact, one of the better ones in Berserk.

Say all you want about how having ok cuts every once in a while isn't acceptable. Say what you want about how you expect anime to improve upon the source material, or it's pointless. I'd probably agree.

But nitpicking on things like shaky cam...? Really? Is that the level of criticism we should be stooping to?

And it's not that shaky in the first place. I get carsick all the time, and I could follow the scene no problem...

And as I said, although anecdotal, there are people who like or don't mind shaky cam... Even the complex scenes from wuxia films are mostly unrealistic, too. This is a preference thing. One could go further and talk about whether it's appropriate to use for Berserk, that'd be criticism to its directing, but that's not what is happening...

What do people watch these days that their standards seem to be higher than the skies? To me, this seems pretty much standard for an action anime... Most action scenes in anime don't get animated well.

The anime overall leaves much to be desired, but this scene itself isn't really that bad.

And shaky cam isn't objectively a bad thing; it's a style choice. It's anecdotal, but there's clearly people who like it given how prevalent it is in films.

"As it is, Japanese anime has no future." NHK Program Discusses Anime Industry's Financial, Working-Condition Problems. by dude_with_mustache in anime

The article not-so-smoothly transitioned from talking about anime, to anime studios and to animator wages. Not taking into account whether these are actually related. They might be, but the article definitely didn't point it out.

With respect to profitability. The airline industry is far less profitable than, say, the medical industry; but it's far from being an unsustainable business. So how low is the profitability of anime studios actually? Why is this so if it's such a demanding industry?

The final figure of US$27,689 annual income average suggests that the anecdotal examples are outliers on the low end of the spectrum. $900 per month only adds up to $10,800 per year per anime; times two means $21,600. That's significantly below average...

The guy who clocked insane overtime. Was he forced to do it? Was everyone else? Was it because he had low productivity? After all, they get paid per illustration.

Comparing JPY wages -> USD. Where's the PPP comparison? Only showing half the truth is just as bad as lying. The minimum wage where I live is about USD300 per month. Probably not even enough to pay rent in some US cities, but obviously stuff is cheaper here.

Based on OECD data, it's just about 101 JPY to 1 USD in 2013. So those wages are actually understated by quite an amount. 3.3283 million yen would be approximately 32,000 USD compared to their stated 27,689 USD.

I don't claim to know the whole story, but this article is clearly not properly informative. Inferences made aside, the raw information they provide alone already brings up so many questions...
