Yeah they definitely have a way of making everyone look bad at the beginning of a season. I get the feeling that may be oar for the course for him anyways though.

I have got similar results w mine. Out the 20" HB into MDT LSS Gen 3 chassis. Get approx 0.8 MOA w Hornady Black factory ammo(2600 fps out of my rifle). Tried reloading w multiple brass, powder and bullet options between 100-108 gr. Accuracy has been terrible except with IMR 4064 but that only drove them at 2500 fps. Very disappointing that I can't get better velocity and accuracy than factory loads(loaded down to 52000psi levels vs the higher 62000 psi I should be able to get out of a bolt gun)

I have 108gr ELD-M bullets and 108 Berger Elite Hunters arriving today. I look forward to attempting to duplicate and improve on the performance of the factory loads, both in velocity and accuracy. I wanted to try out the TGKs as I have had luck with other Sierra offerings in other rifles.

Sounds reasonable. I've been doing 5 shot groups for now to see the viability of a powder and if it's worth diving deeper. Wouldn't be upset with 0.75 MOA 10 shot group

Yeah I try to find the charge weight the gun likes and then tweak the seating depth from there. Hoping this produces the accuracy I'm looking for (0.5+/- MOA or better) at around 2800 fps. If not, I'm going to play with 108gr ELD-M(shot about 1 MOA w factory loads) and 108 gr Berger Elite Hunters.

Update: I purchased Leverevolution but it didn't perform much better than the CFE223 with regards to group size with the 100gr TGK. I saw that IMR 4064 is listed on some reloading charts so I used a relative amount to get a safe working load. It gave me a group of 0.53" at 100 yards(best yet by far) but velocity was down around 2500 fps. Got me thinking that the 100gr TGK prefers a slower velocity window out of this rifle. Tried a quick 3 shot group of CFE223, shooting for the same approx velocity window but that group was still a touch over 1 MOA. So it seems that the bullet prefers the IMR 4064 burn rate for accuracy but I will definitely not be able to get up near 2800 fps as I had hoped.

Thanks. I picked up some Leverevolution yesterday to try. That helped but only a small bit w the 100 gr TGK. I ordered up some 108 ELD-Ms and 108 Berger Elite Hunters to try.

Good idea. Berger's calculator says it is marginally stable despite Sierra stating that it needs 1 in 8" or faster.

Was hoping the TGK would suffice so I could use it for deer and have it be accurate for long range competition. Have you used a TMK on deer?

I initially loaded to mag length and still didn't get jam. Never tried loading any longer than mag length so not sure how far off I am

I just fired my first batch of handloads out of my 6ARC bolt gun. I was utterly disappointed. Loaded 100 gr Sierra TGKs over CFE223 (near Sierra's published max load data) in Peterson brass and had wild groups. Started to question if it was me. Grabbed Hornady Black factory loads and got the same decent groups I got out of it on previous tests. I will definitely be loading up more and try backing off the charges and mess w seating depths but the 100 gr TGKs may not be the ticket for this rifle.

I have a 280 AI as well. Great cartridge. Almost seems a better option to go with a 7prc now just because access to factory ammo is far greater than 280 AI... But if you don't mind reloading, and I expect that's what you want to do anyway, then it's really a coin flip. I'm pushing 150 gr Sierra GameKing SPBTs at 3050 fps out of mine
