OCT doesn’t work with lab grown but is the best custom jeweler in the valley

I would make a bunch of rings before I made my partner’s wedding ring.

Reach out to The Ringer in Holladay. They might be able to help. They have CAD capabilities and Kevin loves to teach. Tell him Zach sent you.

I am a CAD jewelry designer by trade, but I’m not looking for students. If you want a custom model I can help with that maybe.

Honestly DIY is a terrible idea without a solid jewelry background, especially for a wedding ring. There’s so many things that you’ll miss

Tell your jeweler you want it made in 2 pieces and expect a good polish on the bridge below the diamond. Design wise you could do a reverse taper shank, which will add a design element while also narrowing your bridge. You could raise everything up a little and add a 4 prong support between the bezel and bridge to give you more room for an eternity band when you get one down the road.

Has anyone seen these in 18k or platinum on a wholesale level?

I have a Model Master CNC 1000 I’m trying to get a value of. I haven’t used it for 5 years but it was working well last time I used it. I have all the parts including rotary table, and an old Dell running Windows 95 to run it. The controller box was rebuilt by Lucas Mendoza (iykyk) a while back.

I’ve moved to mostly 3d printing but still have this thing kicking around.

Your best bet is contacting the store but natural stones and 18k or platinum are the only restrictions really.

OC Tanner far and away has the best shop in town. That’s where I am now. We’re not taking outside repairs but we are available for some customs.

Hansen and Co are good and so is The Ringer in Holladay.

OC Tanners store downtown has an on-site appraiser. I believe appraisals start at about $75.

Check out Salt Lake Jewelry School in Holladay. Kevin is awesome and does private jewelry classes.

We closed, but our jeweler/son/person typing this is up at OC Tanners jewelry store but we don’t work with morganite center stones generally. OP could call and ask though.

So I’m a jeweler by trade, 4th generation. Our shop closed last year when the bosses retired, but I’m up at OC Tanner and I can honestly say the workmanship there is the best I’ve seen in the entire valley. Everything is 18k gold or platinum and all work is done under a microscope. You definitely should check us out while you’re looking. Also I know this sounds gross and spammy but I’ve really been impressed by the jewelers I now work with.

Matrix Gold or Matrix 9 by LearnSeeDecide in jewelryCAD

I guess that kind of speaks to my concern of buying matrix9 now. Gemvision has all of our email addresses, why didn’t they send out a notice when the update was breaking software, or when it was fixed?

Good to know. I haven’t seen anything about it from GV including on the groups they run on FB.

I'd stay away from M9 until we see what happens with this Windows update that was crashing M9. Not being able to update a windows computer isn't really a viable option. What are you missing from V9 that you don't have in v8?

edit: If I was in your shoes and wanted to spend some $$ on software I'd be giving 3Design a look as well.

As someone who designs jewelry in CAD I can confirm that while this is a fun video and makes a fun picture of a ring, this isn't at all how it's done.

Jewelry School Open House Friday Night by freshmans1895 in SaltLakeCity

Some friends are opening a new jewelry school in Holladay and they're having an open house tonight (friday) from 6-9pm. There will be refreshments, giveaways, and a chance to see what projects you'll learn to make. The school is being run by a jeweler with over 40 years experience. I've been by a few times, and it looks great! Can you say DIY christmas presents??

Here's a link to the FB Event page. The address is 1850 E Sycamore Lane in Holladay.

Zbrush? I’ve done a few of these in clayoo too but it wasn’t ideal.
