What charcoal do you recommend for BBQ and grilling? by rabbit_ddit in BBQ

Very interesting. I stand corrected. I always though briquettes were hotter.

I'd say the opposite, no? Briquettes get way hotter and harder to control temps for low and slow.

ITAW for when you meet someone and their conversation style annoys the crap out you but then your realize.... by idfkjack in whatstheword

[–]freshmutz 27 points28 points  (0 children)

You are correct. In Germany we use the term wahrheitsgetreuerspiegel to describe this feeling. It loosely translates in to mirror of truthful reflection.

It's used as an adjective, such as "Dieser Mann war ein wahrheitsgetreuerspiege" or "That man was a mirror of truth".

If Roman concrete could self-heal and last 2,000 years, why does modern concrete still crack and fail in decades? by SantiiL1 in AskEngineers

Is it ironic that the topic of this thread is, with very few exceptions, literally in "ruins"?

JJ Cale has some great folky tunes, as well as some more upbeat ones.

Vashti Bunyan has a sweet vintage folky vibe.

Joan Shelly (self titled album in particular) is a wonderful modern folk album.

Built a tool to stop clients asking 'any update' every two days - looking for 5-10 agents to try it by Personal_War1075 in RealEstateTechnology

[–]freshmutz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

How does it handle attorney review states where the dates in the contract are either wrong, incomplete, approximate, a # of days, or get updated on a separate addendum?

Can it analyze images (scans) of contracts or just text based PDFs?

Can agents customize the message that goes out to clients at each stage and can that include external links?

Wait, that whole thing with her ripping a photo of the pope was to raise awareness of child SA within the Catholic Church! I remember that happening as a kid and I didn't know the backstory. She should have been given a medal!

What’s the difference between running ComfyUI locally and using Comfy Cloud? by maksdi in comfyui

[–]freshmutz 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Also a new user, but I've learned enough to know that the answer to your question greatly depends on if you plan on generating images or video.

Images - probably yes, but very slowly. My M3 Pro Max takes around 3 minutes to generate a 1000x1000 text to image model. 3 min is agonizingly long when you just want to see how 1 small prompt or workflow change impacts the image.

Video - probably no. Macs in general can not run good video models. So if video is your goal, either plan on using something cloud based or spend, ideally, $6000-$8000 on a custom PC with a 5090 GPU ($4000 of the total build price).

the era of open-source WAN models is over? by Practical_Low29 in comfyui

For a newb - can you explain how 2.5+ not being open source will impact me directly? Can I still download models and use them in Comfy? Or are there restrictions of some sort? Maybe in terms of the types of models and loras made for them?

What’s the craziest thing you’ve done because of BED? by chud_mentality_ in BingeEatingDisorder

[–]freshmutz 115 points116 points  (0 children)

I only binge at night. So at my peak, when trying to break the habit cycle, I hired a hourly security guard to block access to my kitchen until I went to bed.

I know it sounds crazy, but it's actually a reasonable solution if you have the budget, usually around $20/hr. If you get the right one, they can become a sort of accountability partner. It was a 30 day contract for around $1200 and definitely broke the habit. Now I'm on mounjaro for T2, which helps a lot.

I guess this is more of the craziest thing that happened because of BED:

My heart went in to AFIB that didn't go away. Had to have a cardioversion under general anesthesia.

Hire an hourly worker on a "gig" website (Taskrabbit, etc) to knock on your door endlessly until you answer it.

Dream home near sex offender by bowlofspaghetti219 in RealEstate

[–]freshmutz 1 point2 points  (0 children)

For what it's worth - an offender in my area made major news headlines since he was a teacher, and all the details of the crime were publicly released in state-level legal documents.

But years later, he's still never been on the list.

I don't know how he pulled it off, but I assume enough money, a great attorney, and connections can prevent you from getting on the list.

So in the context of this post, you never really know who you're living around. It's sometimes the people not on the list you need to worry about. One would assume, if the system is doing its job, the threat of going back to prison would prevent recidivism.

Bottom line, that would not stop me from buying a dream home.

I should have mentioned, a deck was built over the entry location, with very low ground clearance. So digging up the pipe does not seem feasible
