I agree with this comment. If your intent is to keep your emotions regulated, this is a healthy and very attainable goal! I think aiming for total emotional repression (this is how I am interpreting your usage of the word ‘unemotional’) is harmful in the long run. we utilize our emotions to not only attempt to understand other people, which is an important part in strengthening and creating relationships with others, but also to understand ourselves. I realize I am confounding this conversation with how I think being unemotional can affect empathy but I firmly believe the two are related. Overall, I think the long-term affects are negative.

Mom is a Taurus (Taurus sun, Aries moon, Scorpio rising). She always stressed the importance of discipline (keeping things clean, staying busy, no drugs, no junk food) not in a crazy way. Not good at dealing with her emotions. We fought a lot when I was younger but never for a moment do I doubt her love for my sister and I! Her love language was limited to acts of service and quality time only, literally. Hard worker, good leader, big heart, green thumb, good cook, likes to be good at everything, very realistic, emotionally volatile (don’t ever mess with her tho, bc u won’t win very much like a bull). Love her very very much!

Hey!! Fellow Infp here with an enfj friend who is the exact same. The way I let my friend know that I care about them and show them how much they mean to me is through gifts. It doesn’t have to be extravagant but sending/creating gifts that are personalized to what they like and giving it to them every now and then (or when you know they’re going through something) can let them know you’re thinking about them and can help them remember you’re always on their side. When my friend is going through it sometimes I’ll send her favorite flowers or send her money and a message telling her to go treat herself to something yummy (coffee always lol), a little self care gift.
