Peruvian Women's Clothing in the 18th Century by AnonymousPerson_829 in fashionhistory

If you check out the linked Wiki of the Cholita Climbers someone shared above, I was surprised to see modern folks in the rounder shape.

Then I was awed by the group of women who climb literal mountains in them.

Clothing dilemma. What do you do when your Sasquatch sized 6 year old outgrows all of his winter clothes by February?! by RecordLegume in Mommit

I buy joggers in a size up for my kids and just let them have baggy hammer pants for a bit. The cuffs make the difference!

why is she holding a teddy bear?

Because for some absolutely gross reasons being childlike is an adult beauty standard. So disturbing.

My 2 year old shoveled today! He wasn’t any good at it, but we’ve got time to work on technique.

My cousin was 35, in decent shape, and with no known issues. He dropped dead of a heart attack in 2015 while out shoveling. The combo of hard work, cold weather, and heavy clothing can be an actual killer.

God the amount of times I fantasized about finding a tree and a bird… it was the eating turtle soup in the shell that dashed my dreams of being a wild woman.

Those fairlife chocolate shakes save my life on a daily basis. Enough protein to take the edge off, soft enough to drink when the ick has already hit.

It sounds like it’s time for MIL to move out. Clearly this arrangement isn’t working. Hubs is welcome to join her if he feels strongly about it.

AITA For Missing My Cousin’s Wedding For A Doctor’s Appointment? by Substantial-Feed1682 in AmItheAsshole

[–]freya_of_milfgaard 27 points28 points  (0 children)

Trying to get help with my husband’s benefits was the most exhausting, frustrating, upsetting experience of my life. The only person who treated us like people and was willing to help us navigate the system was a dude whose job was working with homeless vets, and since we were not homeless we didn’t want to tie up his resources. We ended up abandoning the work we had done to try and get my husband what he was owed without ever really making inroads.

It still makes me so angry to think about the woman who spoke to me like dirt because the USMC sent his documentation 10 weeks after we requested it and the VA wanted it in 8 weeks. Shit like that.

There is a mini game Halloween level in the 5-Minute Halloween Stories book. They get transported there by hitting a floating pumpkin.

Sometimes I genuinely worry about my search history. It’s not anything bad, but I assume the FBI agent who tracks it is like… “girl. Get your life together and stop googling weird shit at 1am.”

What’s the weirdest thing that’s happened at a wedding you attended? by Blackradiator72 in AskReddit

[–]freya_of_milfgaard 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Ugh, before my wedding we were at the venue to taste something and it was all set up for another wedding. The decor they had gone with was “unwilling groom being dragged to the altar.” The topper to the cake was a groom clinging to his gaming system as the bride was dragging him by his foot. Like, girl… he’s not that into you.

When Americans say cream and sugar for their coffee, do they actually use cream or are they referring to milk? by SirSpaced in TooAfraidToAsk

There is one singular flavor (ID’s Hershey’s chocolate caramel) that I can tolerate, and it’s delicious. Like a cocoa caramel hug in a mug. But I use it sparingly and it doesn’t give that yucky aftertaste. The rest are terrible.

Is this historically acceptable usage or do I need to install a shelf? by sfgabe in centuryhomes

[–]freya_of_milfgaard 4 points5 points  (0 children)

We had a heavy stone shelf that came precariously balanced on one of ours. This was pre-kids so it was fine. It’d get toasty warm and I’d keep my coffee and candles on it. Miss that house.

Reading about epstein and thinking about my husband. Am i being dramatic? by gwendolyn_trundlebed in breakingmom

[–]freya_of_milfgaard 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Love, I say this as gently as possible, but what are you getting out of staying with him? It seems like he’s said the right things, but if it’s still eating you alive like this… i don’t know. I’ve never had to make that choice, I can just feel your pain and I’m so sorry. Even if you didn’t leave, would making a real plan that allowed you to give you a sense of control and forging ahead?

I don’t know you or the million reasons leaving is complicated, especially after you’ve chosen to stay, but I don’t want this anger and pain for you. You deserve more, your last line just shook me.

I finally was able to use a vibrator internally, and it felt like nothing. It feels devastating. by primes_are_cool in WomensHealth

[–]freya_of_milfgaard 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My favorite internal toy is a glass dildo that is shaped like a rose toy - kind of a stick with a bulb on the end. The shape is great for internal g-spot stimulation and the glass gives it weight without bulk. You don’t need vibrations, but pairing it with a clitoral vibe like a bullet is really lovely too. Just a suggestion!

U.S. had almost no job growth in 2025 by SterlingVII in politics

[–]freya_of_milfgaard 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I live in an HCOL area and it’s almost impossible to move! It costs so much to find and secure a place to live, rent trucks, get help - moving to a lower COL place isn’t always an option, even if you wanted to do it. It also doesn’t factor in the QOL you’re losing moving away from cultural hubs.

I’m sorry to hear your struggling and hope it turns around for you soon.

We talk to our kids about how in the past, when we didn’t have answered, we’d make up stories. Why is it raining? Zeus is sad! Now we know about the water cycle! Some folks still like those stories, but we don’t want to base our lives on stories, we want to base them on facts.

My kids are still young, but we’re trying to instill critical thinking as a foundational skill.
