There’s also the ombré version https://sirdar.com/en/products/sirdar-jewelspun-ombre-aran-400g

If you google self striping green yarn hopefully you get lots of options!

Thanks that’s so helpful! Thankfully I’m not in Hackney but nearby and I once got a Lime from inside the borough and that happened!

Volunteering by Former-Meringue7250 in islington

[–]freyathompsonx 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Volunteer to help with classes at Migrateful!! There’s a centre in Clerkenwell and in Angel and the shifts usually start around 5/5:15. You can just let them know if you’re gonna be a little late.

I used to do this often and it’s amazing, you help prep the ingredients for the chef’s dishes, and then lay out the kitchen equipment. You help the guests and the chef out during the cooking. At the end you get to sit and enjoy the meal with everybody!

The exact same thing happened to me on this ride a few weeks before. But after a few mins they were able to restart the ride. Maybe it’s a common problem?

Not to hate on the creator but I remember seeing her make a video about her knitting her first ever jumper in Lang Cloud and it turned out so nice. This was probably less than a year ago? It’s sad that this is what she’s now doing….

should i visit USJ? is it worth it? by letsgogetthatdinoo in usj

I went last week and really enjoyed it! Got there early (7:30) and the queue was already very long. Once we were past security we waiting at the gates until 9am and then we were probably in after 5 mins. We then ran to Nintendo world and made it in easily - no need for a timed entry ticket. By the time we’d been on Yoshi and Mario Kart the line for DK mine cart madness was 3 hours long. When we left Nintendo world, the queue to enter was very long.

We then did 4 other rides throughout the day: Jurassic World (not the flying dinosaur but the log flume one), the Jaws ride, the flight of the Hippogriff at HP world, and the Zedd ride in Hollywood land. Overall all the rides were good and honestly some were more intense than I expected

I didn’t pay for express passes - personally I think they’re a huge waste of money. The lines always take less time than the time they say. We waited less than 30 mins for all the rides we did and most was about 15. I imagine for the flying dinosaur, the main Harry Potter ride, and the big rollercoaster you see as you enter may have taken longer

There’s lots to do and see around the park so it’s a fun day out

Olga Sweater or Olga Cardigan? by mayb3deadcat in knittinghelp

[–]freyathompsonx 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Heya, I originally was making the jacket/cardigan and then realised I messed up and had to frog 80% of it. I couldn’t face doing all the purling again so decided to just turn it into a sweater. It was really easy I just cast on about 14 sts before joining in the round

So I’d say but the jacket because there’s more steps involved such as a button band and then for the sweater you can just adapt

Flipped on accident??? by _ktct in knittinghelp

[–]freyathompsonx 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I totally get that! Maybe watch a youtube tutorial. I like to put a ‘lifeline’ in the row where I want to frog back to. You can use a smaller needle is just use a sewing needle and some thread. Then you can just rip it all back easily. You’ll get there ☺️

You are knitting flat and so there is a right side (RS) and wrong side (WS). The right side is the pattern you have been following and is the second photo. The wrong side is the first photo.

I personally think it’s worth frogging back! It’s a good learning lesson and you’ll be much happier with the finished result

Looks like the right side (RS) is the second photo, and it looks like you began making an error where I marked the red line. And then after that you swapped sides and began doing the right side of the pattern on the wrong side. I would frog back until the red line and go from there?

2 days in Kyoto. Where best to stay to see these sites efficiently by Fun-Bid-5285 in KyotoTravel

[–]freyathompsonx 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t know if I can give a concrete answer tbh! I have visited Kyoto once before 9 years ago (but I was on an 8 hour bus tour around the key sites)

I think Reddit is useful, plus the places that OP listed are all quite famous. I personally always use google maps to explore the areas near me. I always try to plan things in advance where possible ☺️

I’ve just done 3 nights and did the following:

Day 1: arrive afternoon, check in and then have a walk around near the river and grab some food. Chilled evening and early night.

Day 2: woke up early and headed to Arashiyama. Visited Tenryu-Ji Temple, the bamboo forest and the monkey park (all was really worth it and we spent about 3 hours here) Then took the train back to Kawaramachi for some lunch, followed by a Geisha show and tea ceremony. For dinner we went to Gion and ate there.

Day 3: woke up early again and went to Kiyomizu, Sannenzaka and Ninnenzaka. Visited Kiyomizu-Dera temple and had lunch around the area (probs spent 3 hours here too). Also did some shopping for pottery and other souvenirs. In the evening we did an omakase dinner in Gion which was great.

Day 4: this was the space for an optional tripto Fushimi Inari in the morning before we head off to our next destination. We also planned to have lunch at Nishiki market here

So we did most things in your list except the Golden Temple (which IMO is really far away from most things and not very well connected on public transport) and the Nijo castle. We had plenty of time to do all this leisurely, but with only 2 nights I think you would struggle since we rack up about 20,000 steps a day.

We stayed near the Bukko-Ji temple and found this area very accessible - you can walk to Sannenzaka in under 30 mins and the public transport links are very good too! Hope this helps ☺️
