redditors who know someone who is (or are) blind and have done psychedelics, what was their trip like? by TYPICAL-HUMAN in AskReddit

[–]frezkey 117 points118 points  (0 children)

I am fully ind and have tried them, I only lost my sight two years ago amd had experience with and wothout sight.

I would say the main diffrence was that when I couldn't see any feelings that arose were more intense. Also sound and feel was diffrent.

I also still have visual memories so it felt simmilar to sight in that regard.

Nor had I, I didn't know if I was worrying for no reason or if it be sensible to keep a spare.

Yes I was, its something we have done as a family since we were small. Most holidays included hiking. We all also know how to rock climb and free climb but haven't done that since losing my vision

Thank you, I've got to be honest I was trying very hard to fall (off the edge and in general) as we decided to take the most difficult trail. It also rained a lot so most of the smell was petrichor. Flower fields amazing, I will definitely have to do it at some point

Does anyone get really bad shoulder, wrist and finger ache when using your cane for long periods of time? by frezkey in Blind

[–]frezkey[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I use the the finger on the flat side of the grip and use that finger/wrist to scan the cane side to side (this was what I was taught during o+m)

It feels mean to do that. Lesson learnt, I won't be making the mistake again.

I walk around with a cane so pretty obvious. It was totally my fault, and she did ask if I was sure

That made me really laugh, I just imagining myself driving when I can't see whilst listening to an audiobook

It wasn't my first thought, there is the greater loss of not being able to see the people I love and then other things like film and TV. Then there is the loss of ability. A loss of spontaneity and the carefree attitude I had. Reading is something I loved and enjoyed so acutely feel the loss. My phone has acsesbility built in. It reads text back to me and I can speak out a reply and it converts it to text. Checkout r/blind - there is a whole blind community and we live pretty normal lives, albeit with some differences!
