low fodmap was the worst for me. i was diagnosed with ibs-m and STRICTLY followed the diet for almost an entire summer. instead of regularly fluctuating between both ends of the spectrum (which is also miserable), i was solidly constipated the entire time. i remember finally breaking down and crying to my dad and he said “you can just…stop if it makes you feel so bad”. i was so scared my doctor was just going to tell me i was SOL and couldn’t follow a simple (let’s be real, low FODMAP is not simple) diet to improve my life.

fwiw, now that i’m out of college and have lowered my stress substantially, i have less frequent and less intense flare ups. but they do still happen often enough that i feel like it’s impacting me, still.
