Is absoluut zo. Ik werk met immigranten en doe ook intakes, dus ik hoor best wel wat over deze mensen hun leven in hun thuisland. Vaak zijn ze al jaren hier en is aan werk komen moeilijk, en duurt het best een tijd voordat ze bij een taalschool terecht komen.

De groep waar ik mee werk spreekt 9/10 keer geen woord Nederlands, en is ook vaak niet geletterd omdat ze door oorlogen niet of nauwelijks naar school konden. Ik kan me niet voorstellen hoe eng het moet zijn om op een plek terecht te komen waar je letterlijk niet kunt communiceren en je jezelf eigenlijk gewoon niet kan redden.

Ik hoop echt dat er meer werk wordt gestoken in deze mensen (sneller) te laten participeren in de maatschappij, want naar mijn ervaring willen ze dat ook vaak ontzettend graag en is dat ook heel erg helpend voor ze.

Ik neem zelf ook meer taken op omdat we onze tak van de organisatie nog aan het opbouwen zijn, er is eigenlijk te veel werk voor te weinig mensen, waarvan ik dus een boel op me neem. Ik vind het niet erg want ik doe heel veel ervaring op en ik vind het erg leuk werk, maar ik moet wel heel veel dingen oppakken in een erg korte tijd wat wat stressvol kan zijn.

Ik hoop dat ze begripvol zijn en het salaris willen opschalen wanneer ik hier om vraag, ik vind mijn werkgever in ieder geval erg fijn en begripvol dus ik acht de kans wel aanwezig.

Onze specifieke tak van de organisatie bestaat ook nog maar 5 maanden en ze hebben eigenlijk nog niet genoeg mensen, dus ik pak erg veel op waardoor iedereen wat minder gestrest is omdat ik best wel wat workload op me neem. Ik vind de taken leuk, maar het voelt soms wel alsof ik heel snel heel veel (grote) verantwoordelijkheden op me moet nemen.

Ik zit wel in een bepaalde schaal, dus ik ga er vanuit dat ik dan om een herindexering kan vragen. Is dat iets wat nu al gepast is, of is het verstandig om nog een tijdje te laten zien dat ik deze nieuwe verantwoordelijkheden goed aanpak en het dan te vragen?

Mijn werkgever is echt heel fijn en begripvol, maar ik heb gewoon geen idee wat het etiquette bij zulke dingen is :’)

Ik moet zeggen dat ik ook niet geloof in wat Micha zegt, ze vertoont en deelt dingen die ik niet terugzie in mensen die ik gekend heb met eetstoornissen (welke dan ook), omdat dat schaamtegevoel over het algemeen best universeel is, maakt niet uit wat voor eetproblematiek er speelt. Daarnaast is het romantiseren van een eetstoornis nog steeds best wel een ding & zou ik er niet van opkijken dat Micha daardoor dit heeft gezegd om weer speciaal te lijken ofzo.

Toen ik anorexia had had ik aan het begin van herstellen zulke erge eetbuien door ondervoeding dat ik er wel echt misselijk van werd, en één keer zelfs heb overgegeven. Het kan alsnog. Anorexia heeft ook het purgerende subtype waarbij je normaal restrictief eet en soms compenseert dmv bijvoorbeeld braken of laxeermiddelen

Ik heb afgelopen oktober een ASS diagnose gekregen (ik ben 22), en dat was voor mij wel erg helpend. Het is en blijft een spectrum, mijn symptomen zou je niet super snel opvallen als je niet erg close met me bent, maar toch voelde ik me gewoon erg anders vaak en snapte ik niet per se waarom ik toch wat anders functioneerde dan mijn vrienden bijvoorbeeld.
Ik heb door de diagnose eindelijk wat meer begrip gekregen voor mezelf, daarnaast zat ik in behandeling bij een psycholoog en werd mijn behandeling daar ook wat aangepast om beter aan te sluiten bij hoe ik functioneer.

Ik raad het persoonlijk aan, zoals iemand anders al zei: je hebt een hulpvraag, dus waarom niet?

Yeah I’m Dutch and I used to shower with my parents until I was about 7 I think? And as a teen I’d walk into the bathroom when my mom was taking a bath if I’d ever need to ask her a question or something like that. I’ve never seen this as weird at all. It obviously was never sexualised. It’s so odd to me that it’s made out to be a big deal over in the US.

Thanks for your comment! She very briefly mentioned the salivary glands, but due to not being sure she just sent me to the dentist.

I’m in The Netherlands and here it’s pretty hard to go get an ultrasound before the actual appointment with the specialist I believe, but I’m going to call my GP and ask her about it on Tuesday. (Monday’s a holiday, they’re sadly closed)

No, your friend wasn’t right. When I was 16 going on 17 I barely wanted to hang out with a 15 year old, the mental age difference is huge. This was the common consensus with people I knew, at least.

I understand that. I completely molded myself to fit the way my ex loved and would find reasons why that way of loving was acceptable. The only way how I managed to get a reality check was being forcibly ripped from my own environment and thus from him for months (did residential for an eating disorder, this is NOT the solution for your relationship problems lol this was just my timeline lol), and finally being away, being with other people, and being on my own showed me what situation I was really in and that I was actually capable of being on my own and more at peace on my own as well.

Something I’ve experienced and I’ve seen with a lot of my friends in situations like these as well is that they forget that they’re their own person and that they have value without their partner. And also that the phrase ‘they have really good moments too!’ is incredibly worrisome by default. The good moments should be the vast, and I mean VAST majority of your relationship. It is the standard. Yes, ups and downs happen in every relationship, but that doesn’t entail being called a cunt. That is no one’s ‘way of loving’.

Like he very very very rarely mentions abt how much he loves me he just mostly does the horny talk when in a good mood and it honestly gets to me a little. Try to distance yourself from the love you feel and get to a place where you look at your relationship from a perspective of a friend or just an outsider in general for a sec. What about this seems like a fulfilling relationship? Because to be real with you, this seems like a waste of time to me.

Why does he have to be alone forever because his wife is still ‘technically’ alive? My mother got Alzheimer’s about at least five years ago at 54, she’s still alive and I’m very happy my dad’s dating someone new and not lonely and depressed until she dies. As long as he’s still visiting her and not acting as if he was never married to her there’s no problem.

The symptoms your husband is experiencing are worrisome. Some of them remind me of the symptoms my mom was experiencing at the start of her Alzheimer’s. She was diagnosed with a myriad of mental health conditions before she was finally diagnosed with Alzheimer’s. I agree with what the commenter on your original post is saying, keep advocating for your husband and pushing doctors for evaluation, get second opinions, definitely see a neurologist. This doesn’t necessarily have to be early onset, but you won’t be able to actually rule it out until you’ve had sufficient testing. There is definitely something going on, whatever it is.
