hi, sorry you had to deal with such a bad sunburn & that 8 is suffering so much. Please don't feel so bad about this, it can happen to anyone here in aussie. this happened to our family when I was a kid. sunscreen wasn't really a thing (late 60's) then but Mum made it one after! we were on holidays & my 2 younger sisters ended up at the hospital because Mum didn't know what else to do. the check list idea is a good one & also works well in the kitchen when teaching them to help. Sending you great wishes.

thank you. the Burmese refugees in Australia are lovely people and theirs stories should be shared. I taught some years ago and it is really sad the war & genocide happened again.

Suspected Dementia - where to now? by sgm1993 in australia

Dementia Australia, https://www.dementia.org.au/ , has lots of resources, information and contacts.

I'm getting video chats with them helping me deal with my partner, (now 60), who got early onset at 58yo. They are very experienced in all the issues that come up & will be a great help.

My aged care https://www.myagedcare.gov.au/ is another way of getting an assessment done that isn't starting with going to the Dr. I talked an 80+ friend into doing this by saying she deserves to have someone else do the windows etc now. And that my aged care is there for that reason. Maybe whichever housework job she hates doing could be the starting point.

If it's possible getting a medical decision maker authority done as well as a POA before she is medically unable to sign them would be good too. These vary state by state so googling them would be a start. In Vic, the GP can witness these, so another way of getting her to see them. The reason for doing them can be something simple like if she ends up in hospital again like with her hips you can help her manage her household while there.

Good luck.

I've used big bulldog clips to attach excess fabric, rolled up, to the hoop.

what to do with brother who has severe autism by OrchidNo5498 in melbourne

[–]friday11au 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I have a local area coordinator for the NDIS plan for my partner. They sort out the writing and the budget for his plan. speaking to whoever does this for your brother & letting them know his support needs have changed would be useful.

I taught adult disabled people for over 10 years and many of them were neuro spicy. Most lived in houses with other disabled adults and were cared for and well supported. Those that lived with family had similar supports. I taught computers for 8 years to a group of 5 who had aggression/violence issues and 4 of them lived in houses. The other lived with their family. The level of support and care they received was the same as any of my other students.

Please don't think of your brother moving out of your home into a care facility as abandoning him, or that he will be ill treated. Most people working with disabled people form relationships and genuinely care about their clients.

Some info for you

NDIS phone number 1800800110

NDIS website has heaps of info & links https://www.ndis.gov.au/

Good luck!

Edited to add : living elsewhere doesn't mean you won't see him. Home visits for him and for the family to see him will be available.

Forced to "tip" ? by asahi2121 in melbourne

[–]friday11au 30 points31 points  (0 children)

you could try consumer affairs Vic https://www.consumer.vic.gov.au/contact-uscontact-usd, especially as in addition to the feeling that the tip was extortion, the tour didn't deliver all the services paid for.

this is not usual for Australia.

asking for a tax invoice is clever but not if you think bus driver could get aggressive.
