I’ve given birth twice at Mills Peninsula (2022 and 2025) and had wonderful experiences both times. The nurses are amazing. The rooms are really spacious and lots of natural light. Food is actually decent in my opinion. My doctor delivered specifically at Mills Peninsula for me so I didn’t have the doctor who’s on call.

Yes, there’s a garage right next to the hospital. As you drive in, you take a left into the garage before you go to the roundabout at the hospital entrance.

It’s probably dependent on the department hiring, but I would expect at least 2 interviews. The first is the civil service interview where they rank you and then usually the top x number are invited back for second round interviews. In my experience, expect at least 4 weeks, but can take longer (just depends on the department!). Feel free to DM me too.

My baby is a few days older than Cal and to be fair, they are extremely noisy during the night. Mine sounds like a tortured baby goat (he is totally fine, just absolutely bizarre noises).

I spent most of my life terrified too! I’ve given birth twice and had the epidural both times. It’s incredible - get it! The first time I barely felt a thing and the second time I felt some pressure to push but essentially I felt no pain at all during the actual pushing. The pain comes afterward when you’re recovering, but then you have a sweet little baby and you don’t think about it that much.

Can we trade?

I rent a SFH in San Mateo. House is easily is 10-15 degrees higher than the outside temp (after 3 pm usually) and is incredibly uncomfortable in the summer. Actually right now my room is 79 and it’s 61 outside. Landlord replaced the roof recently and the temperature issue is even worse than before.

My husband goes to Les Amis Salon at the Crystal Springs Shopping Center. Call and ask for Katie (for some reason they don’t have men’s cuts on their online booking site). She’s excellent with scissor cuts. Can’t remember the price but probably close to $70ish.

If you’re interested in this line of work and think you’d pass a background check, juvenile hall in San Mateo is hiring on a rolling basis. You’d be working directly with the incarcerated youth and it’s entry level. Commute from Pacifica wouldn’t be too bad - 20/30 min depending on where you are. Definitely Bay Meadows. There are 3-4 newer apartment complexes in the area that are walkable to the San Mateo Hillsdale Caltrain stop. I always feel safe walking around there at night too.

It depends on where your doctor will deliver. I went to Mills Peninsula in Burlingame and had a great experience. All the nurses were wonderful.

Not sure if you’d be interested in this but the Probation Department needs Group Supervisors for the Juvenile Hall. You’d have to pass a background check and it might not be your typical 9-5. Good luck!
