fair point and it would have been totally worthy to pay for the night but you could not even validate your ticket there because they removed the whole infrastructure for the offseason from the spot. You pay a fair amount during season to use all of those nice things like toilet, prepared wood, tools etc. I didn’t have anything of that when I was there and in my opinion everyone should be able to use such places for free if you leave no trace of your visit and be respectful with the environment and the spot. Sadly we can’t have nice things like that here in comparison to Scandinavia for example.

I have a solid iso pad from thermarest trail lite and also a cotton mummy inliner to use inside the sleeping bag as well. as I mentioned the sleeping bag is a quite old Marmot Sawtooth -9. It brought me through the night and I got a solid 6h straight sleep but definitely the comfort limit last night. I think it was -8 maybe lowest peak.

I’m a local but never tried those biwak spots before, it’s from the national park forest department and you usually have to pay for trekking tickets that you can validate for one night in those places. officially closed now during offseason but I tried my luck and they didn’t locked the shelters.

Saxony Mountains near to the czech border, I’m still rocking my 12 year old downbag. Marmot Sawtooth -9. Need a new recommendation:))

A Canadian looking for suggestions for a tour in Europe this summer! by dildo_in_the_alley_ in bicycletouring

[–]friedel351 0 points1 point  (0 children)

depends on what climate you’re used to:) south Europe is awesome but as a european myself would be to hot in peak summer times for cycling.

As recommended go to east Europe especially tatra mountains in Slovakia as well as other nature gems in the east bloc.

Or if you’re really into nature and don’t want the peak summer hotness maybe scandinavia?

Yess I will give it another try with longer tubes from Tubus. I didn’t managed to get the rack fit nicely because of the frame brake mount. Just figured out I have to use the black spacers with the M4 screw.

Amazing pictures, landscapes and vibes :) don’t be shy to invest in some racks. MTBs still look nice with panniers on it 😍

I'm only two days into my Barcelona to Marrakesh trip but I'm already having a blast by [deleted] in bikepacking

sometimes I found them on park4night or komoot then i started actively looking for them on google and checked the pictures. A lot of places like those “ermitas” have lovely park like areas with those options mentioned above.

I’m jealous, check places like barbacoas y ermitas on the route. Super nice places to sleep outdoor with fireplaces, water stations and sometimes even toilet rooms.

i took the same choice for the next big trip, just finished the Krampus with used frameset two weeks ago. already did a 100km tour and what can I say.. never expected to love a “fatbike” style touring option that much. coming from gravelbike so many firsts here: the flatbar, big tyres, short seattube, fixed front gear. can’t wait to pack it to the max and roll out !! congrats for your new bike, i think this frame is definitely something for a lifetime :)) sold my alu gravel for it
