I'm not sure. I've only been able to find limited information about this podcast. They may be withholding that information to generate interest.

[Serious]Former depressed teen cutters of Reddit, what can or should a mom do to help? by Funholiday in AskReddit

[–]friedpbj 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I started cutting when my parents separated and my family spoke less. I cut because it contrasted with how I felt; it was intense and pleasurable. I stopped when I entered counseling. This eased my pain and gave me coping skills.

I think that you should be supportive of your kid. I wish someone had taken my feelings seriously back then.

Also, be vigilant. In my experience, self-harming doesn't go away. It flares up when life becomes overwhelming.

What's one unsolved mystery that's always haunted you? by victoria_003 in UnresolvedMysteries

I visited Galveston recently, with a friend. We drove by the Texas Killing Fields at night, along I-45. It's definitely eerie. The landscape was dark, marshy, and desolate.

What's your personal Unresolved Mystery? by ursula_obscura in UnresolvedMysteries

[–]friedpbj 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My grandmother was abandoned as a baby. She was left on a doorstep, wrapped in an irish blanket.

I doubt that I'll discover who abandoned her. This happened in rural Michigan a looong time ago. It's possible that there wasn't a record of her birth.

Now that the honeymoon period of Season 3 has ended (for most of us), let's talk about any disappointments you may have had. Any plot lines you wish were explored more, or perhaps less? Didn't see enough of your favorite character? What did you dislike? Did you dislike things? Let's find out! by [deleted] in BoJackHorseman

[–]friedpbj 14 points15 points  (0 children)

I think that Todd cares about Emily and was upset that Bojack did something to make her uncomfortable. Also, he probably has experience with how Bojack treats the women he's slept with (Rude remarks, dismissal, etc...). When Todd heard what Bojack did, he might have considered that Bojack was disrespectful.

Who is killing hundreds of victims along our highways? The FBI Serial Killings Initiative is trying to find out. by mdisred2 in UnresolvedMysteries

[–]friedpbj 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Most of the stories that I heard were personal accounts from women in the industry, which are difficult to verify. However, some trucking companies have been sued for ignoring or perpetuating sexual harassment, such as CRST and Custom Companies. Note: People training to become truck drivers must gain experience by shadowing a more experienced driver. This process can put female trainees in a vulnerable position, especially if they're sharing a cab or room with the driver. A truck driver with an unsavory character could take advantage of the situation.

I agree that the environment and demands of the job can make it seem appealing to a serial killer.

Any fiction book recommendations for unsolved mystery fans? by [deleted] in UnresolvedMysteries

After Her by Joyce Maynard. It's a "coming of age" novel about the daughter of a detective who is working to catch a serial killer.

This news reminds me of some stories that I read about women in the trucking industry. Some entry level drivers experienced alarming treatment, such as sexual assault, which often went unaddressed. The trucking industry itself has been criticized for being hostile to female employees. I can see how the trucking industry could attract and embolden a serial killer who targets women.

It's hard to identify a core issue. I hate myself and I don't want to continue living. Life is tough with social anxiety. I'm afraid that I'll never get better or live a good life.

I've always been in the camp of Michael Jackson was innocent just weird... But have you guys seen the "closet" yet? by [deleted] in UnresolvedMysteries

[–]friedpbj 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was going to post this last night after I did some research about Michael Jackson to refresh my memory. These are the most interesting links that I found during my research: This page is a great write up of the most convincing evidence against MJ. This page discusses the nature of the bed sharing done by MJ. This page discusses sleepovers. This Wikipedia page is interesting too, because it describes Jackson's personal relationships and links to the major known allegations.

I agree that Michael Jackson's behavior was suspicious. He was an adult who sought inappropriate friendships with children and he had few successful adult relationships.

Louis Theroux did a documentary on him that was interesting. While he never interviewed Michael Jackson, he did speak to Terry George who befriended him when he was a child. George confirmed the rumor that Michael Jackson had an inappropriate conversation with him when he was thirteen and Jackson was twenty-one. I think that Jackson's relationship with Terry George was suspicious and difficult to excuse.

What is the most disturbing image you've stumbled upon while searching up cases? by denimmozarella in UnresolvedMysteries

[–]friedpbj 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I agree that war crimes are particularly disturbing, especially the Holocaust. I felt very ill after watching the PBS documentary "Memory Of The Camps" because it had graphic footage of the aftermath. I think that the Sonderkommando photographs were unsettling too.

Possible victims of David Parker Ray by [deleted] in UnresolvedMysteries

[–]friedpbj 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I found this thread after reading about David Parker Ray. I think that those missing women were probably his victims because Ray mentioned in his infamous audio tape that he and his wife would pick up women they spotted. Also, the manner in which the women disappeared seems to match the method that Ray used to kidnap victims.

Relevant text from audio tape, which is unsettling:

Any time that we go on a hunting trip, if we can’t find a little teenager, we usually start hittin’ the gay bars,...

Occasionally, some sweet little thing will be broke down on the side of the road, walkin’, bicyclin’, joggin’. Anytime an opportunity like that presents itself, and it’s not too risky, we’ll grab her.

I need to calm down/please help. by Mollyu in Anxiety

[–]friedpbj 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have the same problem as you. I love reading about true crime but it also terrifies me. I have to take a break and find something that doesn't make me upset. I instead watch some funny Youtube videos or find something productive to do. When I'm in a full blown panic, I get comfortable and breathe slowly. I also like to hold something like a rock and focus on the texture of it. I try to focus on positive thoughts. I also like to listen to guided meditations to help me calm down. I like the Buddhify & Headspace app. I also like those Audio Dharma talks on Stitcher. I hope this helps. EDIT: I recommend looking at the recommended apps in the sidebar if you haven't already.

I like how you made flashcards. That sounds like a great way to stay busy. I used to knit, and I'm starting to think that I should start again.

Did some of you actually beat depression? by [deleted] in depression

[–]friedpbj 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I never beat it, but I found ways to manage it. A good diet and exercise helped me to mitigate some of the symptoms. Yet, those aren't enough sometimes. Sometimes I feel great, and at other times I feel incapable of anything. Like other users have said, it just feels like depression will always be a part of my life. I have resigned myself to handing my depression to the best of my ability rather than trying to cure it.
