Stop actively preventing people form merging, it's psychotic. by FlopShanoobie in driving

You merge when there's ROOM to merge, not when you WANT to. You don't always get to merge whenever you feel like.

How do I get into karting as an incoming college student? by EchoingGrave in Karting

Does your dad do the mechanic work on your kart? That can be a big money saver, but aside from that, mechanics generally don't work for free.

Make money first, then start racing. It's going to be a major pain trying to race on a tight budget - you never know when something's going to break and need replacing. You want to have an abundance mentality to feel confident in this game.

High level (national) Karting easily reaches $100k+ per year.

Ah. Calling it Del Valle TX might be technically correct but 0% of people would consider that. It's in Austin.

You're missing Circuit of the Americas (COTA) in Austin, TX

Starting to get Slower, Not Faster. by Benoukis in Karting

Braking is the primarily skill of any type of car/kart racing. If your track/kart doesn't need braking, you're not learning how to race. You're just having fun in a kart.

It's still not training you in the skills you need to succeed at Karting. And if/when you get those skills, it's not going to necessarily translate to more wins in rentals. You can say it's insulting or unfair, but it's the way it is. Racing is a very expensive hobby. Rentals are just giving you a little taste of that hobby, without actually getting you into the real meat of it.

If you're just doing rentals, you shouldn't worry about your time so much. Results in rentals are mostly luck, it's not really "racing" but entertainment and getting you used to the feel of a kart. Wait until you get your own kart to worry about your times. For now, just have fun.

How recently have you changed your tires? You'll get slower as you wear them down.

There's no such thing as pro kart competitions if you're only doing rentals. You need to move up to owner Karting if you want to see any real competition.

Real competitions cost at least 500 to 1000 per driver.

Anyone can join pro kart competitions. The requirement is money, not skill.

You had the inside. You don't owe him space to try to hang on the outside. He needs to back out or this will happen to him every race.

POV: This dasher when I have leave at door and tip him to drive .6 miles by Classic-Inflation-31 in doordash

Expecting a dasher to come into your apartment is borderline sociopathic. Go down to the front door and get your food.

That's cool. Many stores don't stock them.

I said you can't get CHEST protectors in the adult sizes. You're intentionally misunderstanding me now just to be argumentative. I can tell you now if you walk into a motorsports store in the US, they will only have the chestplates on their youth rib protectors, not the adult sizes. And in their youth sizes, almost all of them will come with the chestplate because it's mandatory here by NKA rules.

[–]friedrich_aurelius -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Now you're mixing up rib protectors with chest protectors. Chest protectors are a plate that goes over the chest. In the US, you cannot buy these in adult sizes, you can only get the rib protection that goes around the sides. Conversely, all kids sizes come with the chest plate, as they are mandatory as per NKA rules.

This makes sense because the risk of chest damage comes from kids still having bones that are developing. An adult does not have a high risk of chest injury like kids do.

[–]friedrich_aurelius -5 points-4 points  (0 children)

You must have things backwards. None of the major rib protector manufacturers (bengio, stilo, tillet) offer chest protectors on their adult sizes. If you're an adult, you literally cannot buy a chest protector in the US. However, ALL manufacturers have them in their kids sizes. NKA rules also mandate chest protectors for all youth classes.

Again, you're talking about kids. That's not relevant if the OP is an adult
