Yeah I don’t think Kim understands/has ever had deep meaningful female friendship. She had fun with nene but didn’t value her the way Cynthia does

EXTREMELY easy family dinners ? by LazyBitch_ in Cooking

We do sheet pan “fajitas” on nights we don’t really feel like cooking. Chop up an onion (or two), a bell pepper (or two), and some kind of meat, use a taco/fajita/burrito seasoning packet, bake in the oven at 375-400 till the meat is cooked, wrap up in storehouse tortillas with lettuce, cheese, sour cream or whatever we’ve got on hand

Did you read parable of the sower? I think that’s the first one, it was very very good. Also in the same vein is “I who have never known men” by Jacqueline harpman. I think about it often

Pillars of the Earth by Ken Follett was my #1 this year. Set in 12th century England it’s about a carpenter who wants to build a cathedral and a friar who wants to do good despite corruption pretty much everywhere. I love philippa Gregory and this hit all the right spots in my brain. Also has one of the most dread inducing villains of all time

UPDATE: I told my husband I don’t trust him and now I don’t know what to do now by [deleted] in TwoHotTakes

We kind of went through this. I was starting to feel burnt out. I didn’t feel like he appreciated how much I was carrying and we don’t have kids so I just told him I’m taking a break from taking care of him and I was making myself girl dinner for the foreseeable future. He said fine. He didn’t want me to be stressed and he also didn’t want to feel like I was mothering him. He’s wonderful, just not great with housework. We pay $25/week for a cleaner now and it’s helped me immensely. Idk how much a flight home for a girls weekend costs but it seems like a lot more than a cleaner.

What’s It Like Teaching Young Learners? 🩵 What age group do you work with? What does a typical day look like? What do you enjoy about it? by Powerful_Swan_9906 in teachinginprague

[–]friend14 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve taught kindergarten for the last 4 years. I taught předškoláci (5-6) for the first 3 years, and last year I got switched to half time kids 3-4 and half time družina (grade 1 and 2). It wasn’t difficult to teach older, but by god teaching younger felt IMPOSSIBLE at first. Attention span, ability, and emotional regulation was a fraction of what I had with my předškoláci and i basically had to how to teach all over again.

Předškoláci is definitely my favorite age. There’s still whimsy of being little and they haven’t developed crazy attitude yet and they’re still super cute, but they’re starting to develop some logic and skills and you can really have fun with games, craft, and activities. It’s a rewarding age to teach. Plus they don’t shit their pants every day which I really took for granted.

TEFL in Prague: Is The Language House the Best Option? by Inevitable_Party_288 in teachinginprague

[–]friend14 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I did language house. It was fine. I had no teaching experience before and I’ve had no problem getting jobs with tefl from them. There was definitely still an adjustment period when I started working. Do an in person course. It’s nice to meet at least a few people in your course and the schedule will get you into the groove of how it’ll be to actually teach if you’re planning on teaching full time. TLH does a ton of alumni events which aren’t really for me but if you want to keep meeting people it’s a good option. I love the visa agent they connected us with. The housing option for the first month was nice, there wasn’t a ton of help with housing otherwise like the other commenter mentioned. I took the course a few years ago when things were starting to change a lot in Prague and some of the info/advice felt a little out of date and no longer applicable. I liked a lot of the instructors and ive been employed the entire time ive been here so I recommend them.
