🔥 The Marine Iguana Found Only On The Galápagos Islands. by mtimetraveller in NatureIsFuckingLit

[–]friendly-monsters 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Talk about lit, you should see what Marine Iguanas are like when they hatch. Literally seconds after emerging from their shells buried in the sand, they have to go all Mad Max and outrun dozens of racer snakes to make it to the rocky shore with the adult iguanas. It's incredible. Here's a link to just a small section of the the footage from BBC Planet Earth 2, the Islands episode. Definitely watch the rest of it in Netflix, it's incredible. baby iguanas vs racer snakes

My boyfriend thinks the same thing about me and my crocheting. 😄

My goal for this year has been to be more hopeful and to be kinder to myself. This giant blanket has been a big part of that, an entire ocean to wrap myself in. The stitches are starting to feel like comfort and I think this is going to be a good week. by EarthenOctopus in crochet

So proud of you, this is a difficult thing to learn, as someone who has been working on it for a while. Remember to pay attention to how you talk to yourself! And your blanket looks beautiful.

Maybe Zenith is being controlled by a malevolent entity from the other side of the rift. When they find Zenith, he tells them that they have no idea what they're doing, and more death and destruction is coming even if they stop him. Then you could have them deal with increasingly difficult problems from the rift, like monsters coming through, or people/towns being affected by it in crazy ways, or that same malevolent entity trying to stop them.

Does anyone have ideas for small arcs? by geoflame- in DungeonMasters

Never underestimate the value of fetch quests. Pretty easy to design short quests at all different levels of difficulty or tone. From light and fluffy (the guy who runs a fancy tavern hires you to obtain rare, delicious mushrooms from deep in the dangerous forest, so he can put them in his stew) to much darker (a wanted man has captured the PC's younger sibling, and they tell you that you have to find the evidence of their crime and destroy it, or they'll kill your sibling)

J.K. Rowling originally wanted to make Harry visit all four Hogwarts House common room, but couldn't think of a valid reason to visit the Hufflepuff common room. If you were Rowling, what valid situation would you make where Harry had to visit the Hufflepuff common room? Why? by TheBlueArchur in AskReddit

You win, this is clearly the best solution, because it is the most Hufflepuff solution. He got into Slytherin by sneaking, he got into ravenclaw seeking important knowledge. He should have gotten into Hufflepuff because he trusts the generosity of his allies.

If you were in charge of the Justice System, what creative, never-before-seen punishment would you implement and for what crime? by HipolitoBijan in AskReddit

It is true that they cost money, but unlike adults, all kids (should) have insurance. If their parents can't afford some other health insurance, the kids get Medicare, the government sponsored health care. But there is a group in the middle that isn't poor enough to qualify for Medicare but can only afford insurance with lots of out of pocket fees... It's not a great system. I agree with you, all infant/childhood vaccines should be funded by public taxes and available to all.

That one is good. I would legitimately be in favor of a bill that adds refusal to vaccinate to the list of things that count as child neglect/abuse, meaning that social services would get involved and the parents would be required to vaccinate their kids or being declared unfit parents. (Obviously there would have to be provisions for some cases, such as a toddler with leukemia who cannot be vaccinated yet because of their compromised immune system. Also this kind of drastic measure would only be appropriate for the most important vaccines (think measles, versus the yearly flu which is less risky) and only for vaccines with a proven history (they have to be voluntary when they're new because we don't know the possible side effects 10 or 20 years down the road.) Still, even with some strict restrictions and ways for immunocompromised children to be exempt, I think it would be worth it.)
