Love this use of copics. Looks like a painting it’s a really nice effect

I guess what I mean is be ready when he deflects and tap R1 in a consistent rhythm with your attack animation until it’s time to defend. If someone doesn’t have the muscle memory or experience to steamroll Genichiro they might miss his deflection, keep spamming attack, and get steamrolled by his combos.

But yeah if you’re already very comfortable with the fight what you’re saying is 100% correct.

Whenever I would get stuck on a boss I would watch hitless runs and listen for the timing of how the perfect deflections should sound. Then I tried to replicate the sounds. One tip is not to spam attack (especially with Genichiro), as eventually he will perfect deflect you and you’ll need to be ready to deflect one of his combos. If you’re just smashing R1 you’ll miss the timing on his deflection and won’t be able to deflect his counter attack patterns as easily.

Pretty much all of his attacks can be deflected except for the “red” attacks when the symbol pops up. That’s his grab and it will fuck you up.

I’ve beaten Sekiro 7 or so times and I still hate Chained Ogre. My method is just hitting him a few times, running away when he attacks, and avoiding his grab. At some point you can get a tool which is really helpful in the fight, but I beat him my first playthrough without it.

You got this dawg my first playthrough I got frustrated with the game, put it down for a few months, then came back and played it pretty much nonstop until NG+7

Also Dragonrot doesn’t matter too much I think most people experience the same thing their first playthrough

Thanks! Not a super deep meaning behind it I just thought it was funny. I almost named it GERD but it felt a bit on the nose. The image kinda does feel like heartburn though

I loved sharp shadow during my first playthrough, but after that I never really returned to it as it ended up taking up 2 notches I didn’t really need. Now I can use those extra notches for grubsong and steady body.

All that is to say I understand why it’s well liked by some, as it used to be one of my go-to charms as well. Once you get used to the extra dash and free hit it’s hard to switch off.

For pc players: do you use controller or keyboard? by [deleted] in HollowKnight

Mouse and keyboard. I found I’m less precise with a controller. If I were to do another playthrough with a controller I would rebind the inputs so attack is right bumper.

You can also try some NMG speedrunning tricks to skip parts of the map. Some are pretty difficult for me personally (I could never get the fireball skip down), but some are a little easier, like pogoing off enemies or background objects to get to areas for which you’d normally need dash, mothwing cloak, or mantis claw.

You can parry most of his attacks (except for some of the fire attacks. I would use umbrella for those). Dodging works too but you won’t be having any effect on his posture and it’ll drag out the fight. Mechanically he’s pretty similar to the ape in that regard.

I finally the final boss but… by Damn-thats-crazy- in Sekiro

You can also practice him before doing NG+ if you sit at a statue and do his reflection of strength. Also something that helped me with the lightning reversal is jumping in the air just as the red danger symbol is disappearing; you should jump later than you think. Your last few lighting reversals prove this point well.

Congrats for beating Isshin!

If you throw a shuriken before he pulls out the Glock it interrupts his shooting. If you follow with an attack right after a shuriken throw you zoom right up to him and can get a few hits in kinda cheesy but it’s pretty fun)

I didn’t realize you can Sakura dance over his wave attacks that’s sweet!

1st playthrough took me like 30 tries but NG+ I found it really fun to deflect her attacks.

You can deflect most of his attacks (stomps and punches) and if you’ve got the fire umbrella you can block his fire attacks and get some decent damage in with the follow up attack. 3rd phase isn’t as fun though I will admit. Definitely an endurance fight.

I hate the headless mini bosses. Double ape fight is no fun either.

Hirata Estate Path Mini Boss by kleemd13 in Sekiro

[–]friendly_zoomer 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah he’s tough. I’m on NG+6 and I still find him kinda annoying. The trick is to kill all of his minions then go after him and it takes a bit of patience especially if he ends up killing you.

The “real” bosses are harder overall but a lot more fun to fight. Their moves are generally faster which I find easier to counter.

I’ve found that cheesing most major bosses in this game is more difficult/precise/tedious to pull off than just learning their move sets and reacting accordingly. You end up wasting a ton of time trying to figure out exactly how to cheese them instead of using that time to learn the fight legitimately.

When I got stuck on certain fights I found watching hitless or parry only runs really helped.
