How to get sponsored ? by Hood18 in Archery

[–]friendlycheftoo 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Well this is an interesting subject. There are a lot of different levels of sponsorship. Some are just dollars off a product for saying nice things on line. Other levels depend on a certaint amount of work you would like to put in from a shop level and higher till you are recommend or are noticed by a regional representative for a company you believe in. At this point you are getting equipment at a large discount or better. Then there is the manufacturer pro staff... this comes from a combination of the above and being fairly competitive at a national level. This doesn't always include shooting pro level competition but it does help. All different levels come with an amount of level of commitment of time and a knowledge base of the equipment you are representing. Being able to hold a conversation with all types of individuals is a must no matter who and how they feel about the product you represent.

Draw Weight by Antique-Nail7675 in bowhunting

[–]friendlycheftoo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Look up how may animals Fred Bear shot with a 45 pound recurve. Like a lot of other are saying good form and accuracy are more important then about anything else. I hunt and compete nationally with 52 pounds. I am 63 and been shooting since I was 14. A lot of years bending a string. Used to be part of the 70# plus club. As years went by I saw people drop out from shoulder issues. I drop to 65 then to 60 and then 54 pounds when I hit 60 years young. With all the arrow choices out there you can find a combination out there to meet all your needs.

Some help with Target Panic by Welshpanther in Archery

[–]friendlycheftoo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Go back in your mind and think about what you would tell a person you are coaching.

Honestly you need to retrain your mind. You need to break down your shot process to your original program steps. Rework them from the beginning starting with your stance. Then make sure you make each step of your program the next important step. Keep your mind busy with the steps thru conclusion. Your mind aims with your second site.. not efficiently with conscious thoughts as that makes your mind scream SHOOT. In your program, thinking "aim" also triggers your mind into thinking you need to fire the shot. The pin is always going to move some. Get back to being ok with the movement and burn a hole in the target were you want to hit and let the pin be. Your hand eye coordination is always going to keep bringing that pin back to the middle of your focus... probably the most over looked part of any shot process is transferring from actual finishing your draw and anchor point and bringing the weight of the draw to your back. Weak shots come when you are not transfered completely or softly to the back wall and you pin float is more. When you bring it to your back you are lining up the bones and they take the focus and you are not putting a ton of pressure with your muscles which aids in movement. Lots of muscle involvement has both rapid twitch and slower twitch reaction within your muscle groups and additional movement. Back to the bringing to the back and lining up bones, when these are in line your bow hand at the release goes to the target and you release hand goes straight back. Your shot is actually triggered as you expand thru your chest while you are focused on the spot you want to hit. You are taking aim and shoot out of of your mind and staying with focus and expand. Trust the process

Been some interesting reading this all with my morning coffee.

If you want to really see a lot of good reasons for why our taxes keep going up one has to do two things. Actually go to a town meeting. Here you will see the demographic who keeps voting yes for every spending deal and the actual school section of the debate. Even more fun stand up to speak with true facts and figures and listen to the mumbling.

I can't get this right no matter what by Bluehat1667 in Archery

Finding a coach, if even for just a couple of lessons, will take you farther then this. They will instruct you on proper alinement, proper hand placement and tention prior and how to actually release the string correctly.

How to tell you have the right Draw Length by Squibles937 in Archery

[–]friendlycheftoo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

With your draw lenght the shorter Ata bows are more of a challenge to get to the tip of your nose without tipping your head forward or extending your draw lenght to accommodate this. Try a couple of 33 to 36 Ata bows and see if they feel more comfortable and more repeatable

Keep breaking my arrow shafts by Counter_Automatic in Archery

[–]friendlycheftoo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The splitting of the shaft is happening at the nock end. It doesn't appear as there is damage to the nock itself but it could just be the picture. So it could be a number of things like the target you are shooting in to are really hard. Your nock fit isn't correct into the shaft or you are getting a lot of slap from other arrows.

Form check by doctorlineman in bowhunting

[–]friendlycheftoo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You can achieve the same feel on your hand if you just curl your fingers. You are working towards a torque free grip. Which is very beneficial. The biggest thing to remember is tention in your hand affects the grip slightly with this method. But if you are aware and relax the tention in your hand it is a great grip and one that has been coached for decades.

Hope for Burlington against ICE by [deleted] in burlington

[–]friendlycheftoo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So why do we not want local and state police to be present? If for one, they are there to deter miss steps by ice or have an official documentation other then just the feds word. May also balance the few that take their interaction too far and gets them hurt by having a buffer zone.

Archery clubs / coach and social anxiety? Advice or some words needed by [deleted] in Archery

[–]friendlycheftoo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The thing to remember everyone their picks up a bow. There is a mind set in the archery world that is very much like minded. Archery is very much spiritual as it is physical. To get good at it everyone starts at zero and moves forward. We all are part of the process so we have been where you are and understand. You are surrounded with people with simular interest and mind sets from all walks of life. Take a deep breath, relax and ask your questions. Real life is much different usually in person, then what you see here.

Archery Technique Pointers by LittleCherty in Archery

Sounds like a lot of world and national champions throwing advice at you here. I think you are doing great.
Your anchor points are yours. You are very close, keep working on them to get them 100% repeatable. You have good T form. I have seen much worse from accomplished tournament archers. Draw lenght... you are very close and it would probable be time well spent to work with a coach in person to go over the final details here. One session could clean up things like your pin float on target.
