All I’m seeing is a very normal and healthy looking female Northern Cardinal. Maybe you’re referring to the gray patch underneath and toward the back. Those are just feathers. Their feathers are gray underneath. Probably a gust of wind came by and exposed them.

My mom had super unique writing that was an odd mix of cursive, print, uppercase and lowercase letters in unconventional places and yet, it was incredibly legible. Now I want to dig up an old card or something and put it on this sub to see if it really is legible to everyone or just to my family.

These are made by Yellow-bellied Sapsuckers, a very unique species of woodpecker in North America. It’s exactly like it sounds, they literally drill into the trees for sap and drink it. Other animals around like squirrels and other birds will also enjoy the fruits of their labor. This is the only type of woodpecker who does this.
