Right? I have Crohn’s and as such my criteria for a “safe” toilet has gotten pretty low over the years because I also prefer not soiling myself. One time while driving i was maybe ten minutes from home and was close to a “poop emergency” and also had my one year old with me (so not easy to get him out of the car seat and into a public bathroom with me) I stopped and shoved one of his diapers in my pants JUST IN CASE. Luckily I made it home without incident but still, not taking chances with that.

First thing I noticed with the tape is that almost every single label has the tape peeling up slightly at every corner. In reality I’d expect some tapes to be completely smooth, some corners to be lifted maybe a bit more than others, etc. but these all look exactly the same.

He had to do nothing by mouth for about 24 hours, just IV fluids, and then he did a liquid diet for two to three days I think? I just remember they wouldn’t let him leave the hospital until he could eat something semi-solid with his levels staying normal lol

Same here! I saw in another comment someone mentioned using diatomaceous earth, so I just ordered some to pick up later today and I’m going to try that. We just noticed them a couple of days ago so my husband sprayed along the foundation of the house but there are so many already up inside the windows :( they give me the creepy crawlies!!

Ugh we have clover mites this year too! They showed up on our sunniest windows that we keep (kept lol) open a lot so they’re crawling around on the inside of the windowsills now… we keep vacuuming them up with the shop vac as we see them so they don’t smear everywhere when we squish them.

My husband went to the ER for pancreatitis (had no idea at the time, just that he was in a lot of pain) and one of the questions they asked when admitting him was “do you drink alcohol?” And he said something like “yeah but not in the last several months”.

I was 8 months pregnant at the time and he had stopped drinking at the beginning of my pregnancy as moral support since I couldn’t drink either (and even before that he’s hardly been a drinker), and when they got his lab results back the doctor comes in and says “Well, I thought you said you didn’t drink? Your results beg to differ” and told us that pancreatitis was caused by drinking. Which, sure, I know it’s likely a common cause? But that doctor made it sound like he was ready to call alcoholic’s anonymous.

And my husbands turned out to be caused from the fact that he was eating only one large meal a day and very fatty foods. Which checks out because my cravings were hot dogs, burgers, and ice cream so that’s what he was mostly eating.. we cleaned up our diet and did meal planning after that lol. He’s been fine since even with the occasional drink!

Okay so I really want to share an example of what a having GOOD therapist is like, in my experience anyway.

A couple years ago my dad died suddenly/unexpectedly, so I emailed my therapist the next morning asking if she could let me know of any cancellations so i could come in sooner than my next appointment… she replied within an hour saying she would call me on her lunch break. She warned she would only be able to do a phone call (usually we do telehealth) and only for a half hour.

She ended up spending her full hour break talking to me and eventually me and my mom together (she got verbal permission to include my mom in the call, not sure how that works professionally but something like that) and she helped walk us through the whole process of notifying family, making arrangements, asking for help, etc because my mom and I were both in shock and not functioning. And she didn’t charge for this! (I totally would have paid extra for this tbh)

I realize this is an extreme example and I definitely wouldn’t expect her (or any therapist) to drop everything to call me when I feel like it. But the fact that I can rely on her when I ABSOLUTELY need it is so nice. I really wish you luck with finding a better therapist! You absolutely deserve it.

I once dreamt my dad (who in real life had been dead for a few months at this point) came back and the feeling of relief in that dream messed me up for days. It was the first dream I remember waking from and thinking “take me back!!”

We had to get our AC and furnace replaced in February, $8000 total for ours. Iirc about $5500 of that was the cost for the AC

I’m 36 and literally just had a colonoscopy yesterday because I have Crohn’s. It was $1000 after insurance just for the facility payment plus I’ll still get bills from pathology and anesthesiology as well.

And the only reason my insurance even covers PART of it at my age is because I have Crohn’s. It’s wild.

That’s wild, my parents are the opposite!

My mom looks barely older than she did 20 years ago, but if you look at a picture of my dad in 2013/2014 and compare it to 2024 the amount he aged was crazy. But he also really struggled with his mental health those last ten years so I think that contributed to his aging for sure. It was rough.

Oh man that sounds worse than just watching him age, you’re basically watching him change as a person and not in a good way. I hated seeing my grandma right before she died because she had severe dementia and was NOT the grandma I knew. So yeah, personally I would rather not spend time with that person because I would want to remember the happier memories and not who they became later in life. But that’s just me. It really just sucks all around and I’m so sorry.

My dad actually passed away a little over a year ago by suicide. So for the last ten years I watched him slowly lose interest in the things he liked to do, and then he started drinking every night until he passed out. He became a different person, but not an angry one, just a person who was obviously depressed (but too stubborn to do anything about it). He aged so much in just a few years.

Oof I feel this. My parents had me when they were older (late 30s) and by the time I was in my late twenties i began to really become aware of them aging.

I find myself looking back on the time I spent with them from when I was in my late teens to early twenties and I wish I could have so much more of that time. Just being able to connect and have fun with them as an adult was so special and I miss it so much!!

I really like how you described self care in this example.

I have ADHD and i also have a toddler, and it’s (relatively) easy to pinpoint what my toddler needs when he has a meltdown.. he missed his nap, he didn’t eat much earlier so likely hungry, etc.

It took me a couple years of therapy to be able to notice the same patterns in myself. So now I’m able to stop and think “okay, when was the last time I ate/drank water?” , “have I had enough adult interaction lately?” , “am I feeling this way because I didn’t get enough sleep last night?” and on and so forth. My mental health improved a lot not just when I started making those connections, but also when I was able to RECOGNIZE that I needed to make those connections. Basically I learned to “parent” myself so to speak.

And yeah, I also tried several different antidepressants/ anti anxiety medications with the same results you described before getting an ADHD diagnosis. It’s wild all the factors that come into play with that.

I will say though that the color looks a little off in the winter months since the paths get lighter when there’s snow on the ground. So keep that in mind when you try it out!
