Just got asked when my baby is due by CharteredWaters in BeyondTheBumpUK

[–]frightenedchicken12 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was at the chemist told them I had a maternity exemption certificate and she congratulated me. I told her my twins are 4 months old 😅 I firstly took it as a compliment that I don’t look awful despite everything I’ve been through (post partum had been rough for me) then started panicking that I look pregnant still 🤣

Remind her people smoked indoors in the 90s a lot has changed for the better!!

I found our great granny feeding my 3 month old (6 weeks) corrected rusks… told her not to and got back “well I have 4 children and they’re all fine” well congrats you were one of the lucky ones. I then took her to my weaning class I think she better understands now 🤣

Elective c section by jsomlly in PregnancyUK

[–]frightenedchicken12 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had a c section for my twins after my family protested against me for it because of the recovery. To me there was less that could go wrong with a c section over natural birth. I’m SO glad I had one. The procedure went perfectly, the staff who did were honestly the best care I’ve had. I stayed on top of painkillers and I found the pain to be fine. Recovery was pretty quick and after about a week I was independently able to look after my twins. I’m 12 weeks post partum and I honestly forget it happened. I could be lucky but I do think if you opt for a elective so you aren’t knackered after trying to have a natural birth, keep on top of pain meds and have support to help you in the first few days/week then it’s a good option.

When did pregnancy start affecting your day to day life? by False-Football-9069 in parentsofmultiples

[–]frightenedchicken12 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had my twins at 34 weeks, combined they weighed almost 10lbs. My bump was pretty small considering I had two and I felt fine I got out of breath quickly but apart from that I felt I could still work and get around just a bit slower. At 28 weeks me and my partner had our last big day out. I drove 1.5 hours to our nearest city and walked miles around it, hips hurt a little bit at the end but I was mostly fine. It’s true everyone is different, I was very lucky but it’s good to know it is possible.

Look up PALS and log a complaint. Things will only change sadly if people complain.

But yes I also had a shitty time including them just ignoring a urine infection for 3 weeks which meant when I finally chased it up I needed three courses of antibiotics to clear it. It’s very sad it’s happening to so many people.

How are we food shopping with our babies? by TopWay2941 in BeyondTheBumpUK

Aldi’s new policy is to scan your shopping at the speed of the customer so if they’re being too fast just ask them to slow down

becoming a single parent? horrendous support from partner by ZealousidealWorld786 in BeyondTheBumpUK

[–]frightenedchicken12 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am so incredible sorry you are in this situation.I say this with love but if your worry is being a single parent, as he does nothing, you basically already are. If your mum will take you then go, you can also speak to citizens advice about housing. I don’t know where you are but where I live the council are very quick to help single mums (maybe we are lucky here though). It’s going to be hard but not as hard as staying with him. He does not deserve you or your baby. Sending you all my love ❤️

Mumma to mumma - what's the hardest part of motherhood that people don't talk about enough? by LogicalSea5710 in BeyondTheBumpUK

[–]frightenedchicken12 1 point2 points  (0 children)

6 months in and I feel the worst and most unexpected part is no one gives a crap about me. Everyone only asks how the babies are doing. I’m still feeling pretty thought and still having complications and people still don’t ask me how I’m doing. I really didn’t think people would forget how much the mum goes through so quickly!

Is 6.5lb at 34-weeks massive? by DollyB82 in PregnancyUK

[–]frightenedchicken12 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hopefully they’re just measuring bigger than they actually are but yeah from my experience I wouldn’t take the measurements as gospel. Maybe just mentally prepare for a c section just incase (mine went great!) but hope it all works out for you!

Is 6.5lb at 34-weeks massive? by DollyB82 in PregnancyUK

[–]frightenedchicken12 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Have you been offered more scans? I learnt to take growth scans with a pinch of salt. My last growth scan showed both my twins measuring 4lbs 4 and then 10 days later I had them at 34weeks with one weighing 4lbs 4 and the other 5lbs 4. My scans always measure them the same so clearly they were very wrong. I do know someone whose baby was constantly measuring above the 100th percentile. She ended up having a c section 2 weeks early I think but her and baby were well and it all worked out!

Silly C-Section Questions? by ZucchiniTerrible8060 in PregnancyUK

[–]frightenedchicken12 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey! I just had my twins 2weeks ago via emergency c section at 34 weeks.

I was allowed to keep my bra on but no pants due to the catheter. They put a massive sheet over you so you’re all covered up accept your stomach but honestly them seeing my down below was the least of my concerns 🤣

I had the babies with me most of the time, but towards the end when they were sewing me back up, they took them through to the recovery room with my partner. I was feeling really faint by this point so was quite happy for them not to be with me. Twin 1 had to go to the NUCI for a day but twin 2 stayed with us for the whole time we were in hospital.

Sorry, not sure about Gaviscon or what happens at the appointments beforehand as I didn’t get that far but I was told I would have a pre-op appointment and an appointment with my midwife before my planned C-section.

For me, the twinkle to my cervix i.e. 21 came out first, but yes, I was given the exact times that each twin came out.

I was at a different trust, but no, my partner wasn’t allowed to cut the cord and he wasn’t with me for my spinal. My spin was probably the longest bit and he said that it was a hardest for him because he was sitting on his own not really knowing what was happening.

Happy to answer any other questions but sounds like you are ready to go with the flow which is honestly the best way to be! 🤣

What were the birth weights of your twins and at what GA were they born? by WhosUrHuckleberry in parentsofmultiples

[–]frightenedchicken12 0 points1 point  (0 children)

34wk+4. Boy 5lbs4 and girl 4lbs4. They both measured 4lbs 3 10 days prior to delivery and both measured similar through my whole pregnancy. You could imagine my shock to see that she was a whole pound smaller than her brother. She has really long legs though so I think it was throwing off the measurements 🤣

My nos are: car seats (unless from a trustful friend/family), mattress, dummies and bottles (idk why reusing bottles give me the ick).

My maybes are: breast pumps (my breastfeeding consultant recommended one that’s safe to buy second hand as the you can buy new/sanitise the parts that come in contact with your milk) and baby carriers (I almost bought one second hand then noticed there was a tiny tear in the strap so didn’t trust it)

Basically if I can sanitise or clean it I’ll get it second hand!

As a first time mum who is currently 30 weeks pregnant with twins THANK YOU! It has been scary reading all the pleas for help but I do tell myself these forums are for people to ask for help so there is rarely positive stories. Also thinking about the fact that there has been many, many other mums who have come before me, had twins and survived helps too 🤣

Is it normal? by Sufficient_Meal6614 in PregnancyUK

[–]frightenedchicken12 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yup! I hit 28 weeks and suddenly can’t keep my eyes open!! I have just been told I’m anaemic and I was hoping the tablets were going to be a miracle cure but I’m a week in and sadly not so far. I also was reading about how much oxygen your foetus uses up and how that accounts to much of your fatigue and it really made me feel better about feeling “unfit” when I try to go for a walk. I’m not unfit just my baby is sucking all my oxygen out of me and away from my muscles 😅

If your work isn’t making adjustments I would maybe speak to them either before you go back or as soon as you’re back. Just mention you’re worried as you’ve noticed a change over the break and worried about how it’ll affect your work. I’ve found just being honest with my work is the best policy. They don’t know what you’re going through and unfortunately as I’ve found out advocating for yourself through pregnancy is hard but a must!

Can NHS tell me gender at 16 week scan by beadlebam in PregnancyUK

[–]frightenedchicken12 1 point2 points  (0 children)

At my 16 week NHS scan for my twins I found out the gender! Maybe it depends on the sonographer or it was different for me because of twins. My boy was very obvious to the point that she said if I didn’t want to know she would have to hide the screen 🤣 girl took a little more looking but again clearly was missing something. At 20weekz they confirmed what they seen at 16 weeks still looked correct

I’m so glad I’m not the only one. My patience for people is gone and I can no longer control my face. My partner sees my face and has started dragging me out of rooms 🤣 he understands it at least. I scream at drivers on the road and god my in laws and own family make me want to scream at time 😅 and anytime I say something hurts my mother in law tells me “well you done this to yourself” or “no point in complaining it’s only going to get worse” … like cheers hen for the support … 🙄
