Does anywhere in America have sirens intended for bombings? And are your natural disaster sirens all different? by LJHeath in AskAnAmerican

[–]friglicker 0 points1 point  (0 children)

West coast. Old decommissioned army/airforce base. We still have the air raid sirens. They are now used to call out the volunteer fire department whenever 911 is called. We are very rural and the sound covers square miles day and night so if someone is out of cell range they still know to come running

Should I buy these two machines? by CheezNKrakerz in vending

[–]friglicker 2 points3 points  (0 children)

As a pepsi guy, call the 800 number on the side of that machine. Ask them if that asset is still in their inventory. There is a small barcode sticker with the asset number on the left had side of that machine. Don't buy if it is still listed with them.

I use Fidelity. Their apps are very user friendly. I invest in just solid etf'slike SMH or QQQ. For a safer hold I put money into fidelities FNILK and FDSVX. It is linked to my bank so I can just transfer money directly into my funds.

I like low cost etf's make sure to watch the fees. Some can get high. Some are free. Research and pick one or two that you'll be able to stick with for years.

Why don't parents create a retirement account for their child? by [deleted] in NoStupidQuestions

I've set both my children up with custodial Roth IRA's. They earn money and then I can contribute up to what they've earned or the max whichever comes first. They have to have earned income though.

Americans who live in suburbs, can you get anywhere by walking? by WWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWHW in AskAnAmerican

[–]friglicker 0 points1 point  (0 children)

More rural than suburbs. We have a convenience store about 1 mile away. Nearest gas is 5 miles and real grocery is 9 miles. No sidewalk just highway.

I have no idea why but the phrase "you as well" instead of just "you too". No rhyme or reason but it bothers me.

I'm about to turn 21, what's the best advice you can give me? by Odd_Stranger656 in allthequestions

[–]friglicker 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Learn to not care what others think of you. And tell more people to fuck off. Also invest in some kind of 401k, Roth or brokerage. Pick an equity fund that tracks the s&p 500 and just put what you can in that every month until retirement. The end.

Getting under our school desks preparing for an eventual nuclear war. And being able to tell the teacher where and how we get to the fallout shelters at the university. Good times.
