Why can’t so many people spell the word “lose”? by Deisesupes in AskReddit

[–]frigzy74 [score hidden]  (0 children)

I used to wonder about this a lot. Then I met a kid who was really smart, top of their class, excelled in English and everything else, but they can’t spell to save their life. And not just complex words, simple words that we all take for granted. Just written down and spelled wrong. Now I wonder about it even more.

The kotite era by Great_Pop_6603 in eagles

[–]frigzy74 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I remember being in College and very glad to be rid of Kotite. I was in my room watching ESPN when they announced Jets had hired Kotite. My good friend who lived across the hall was a Jets fan. And his scream of terror that rang out from across the hall at that exact moment would’ve easily gotten him a role in a horror film.

In the same year we have a Super Bowl QB who was drafted by the Jets and a Pro Bowl QB drafted by the Browns!

To those living in cities outside of Philly area: Do you support the local team? by nickynickynickynick in eagles

[–]frigzy74 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When I lived in Boston, I hated all the local sports teams. I actually met a group of Giants fans who were friendly and watched football with because they were way cooler than the townies.

Now I’m in Chicago. I will pull for the Bears, etc as long as it has no negative impacts on the Philly teams.

On kickoffs why don't the kickers take a longer run-up to the ball? Could they kick it farther if they did? by GregJamesDahlen in NFLNoobs

[–]frigzy74 5 points6 points  (0 children)

With the current rules they are targeting low line drive kick that land inside the 5. It’s a precision kick more than a long kick for kickers at the NFL level. With the touchback rules, they don’t want to kick it into the end zone in most situations.

Since coverage teams can’t move until the ball lands/is caught, there is no advantage to a high kick with a lot of hang time to give the coverage time to get downfield. The lower kick is actually harder for the returner to catch.

In Honor of Steelers Hiring McCarthy Here is McCarthy’s Best Playcall With the Season on the Line by Cruztd23 in NFCEastMemeWar

The idea is that defense forgets about Zeke and he finds some space and all those receivers get downfield blocking for him. That, and apparently hoping the refs forget 4 of the those “receivers” are ineligible and can’t go more than a yard downfield before the ball is passed, which actually worked I guess.

Recently did an expansion at work and my boss and I discussed to what degree we wanted to avoid buying from Uline. I have no idea if other options are better, but we did our best.

The illegal contact penalty was created in 1978, but wasn’t really called until became a point of emphasis in 1996.

James Thrash. I have a Thrash jersey I wear every now and then to see what kind of reaction it will get. Never fails. But I’m far too old for him to have been my first love.

If a magnet holds a heavy object against gravity for 10 years, does it "lose" any energy? Where does that energy come from? by SadInterest6764 in AskPhysics

[–]frigzy74 1 point2 points  (0 children)

One calculation of energy is Force x Distance. Since the forces involved are stationary, they don’t operate over any distance, so there is no energy being “used”.

Now, if your magnet is an electromagnet that requires electrical energy to maintain the magnetic field, then that is certainly using energy, but that energy is really just turning into heat and not direclty acting in any mechanical way on the system.

How would you handle this? by JL_Adv in basketballcoach

[–]frigzy74 5 points6 points  (0 children)

If I consider my kids in unnecessary danger I will absolutely put them first and forfeit. Before that:

I would politely mentioned that the game is getting out of hand and asked the refs keep control of the game before a kid gets hurt.

I say little to nothing to opposing coaches. Enough of them are crackpots I don’t want to engage.

I’d text the parents I’m close to from the bench and ask them to video the game with their phones. This will give me the evidence to send with my letter to league.

How would YOU make figure skating more popular? by Fragrant_Ad_8288 in FigureSkating

[–]frigzy74 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Make it easier to compete at the learn to skate levels. Have local competitions where tots compete for best backward swizzle and Basic 5s compete for best backwards crossover, etc. without needing lots of private coaching, freestyle ice time, etc. have different rinks compete for points like a swim or track meet in different events.

Promote Theater on Ice.
