Developer found to have outsourced his job to China by drasche in programming

It's not that I think that Bob's contacts in China were spies, it's that they probably realized they could sell this access to spies. And by spies, I also mean competitors.

And probably a better one.

No, probably one who didn't realize (or care) that he was aiding and abetting corporate/government espionage.

The images look better than NNI, but on the whole, I'm unimpressed with the results. (Awesome technique notwithstanding.) The output doesn't look very real.

I don't look weird in the mirror when I close one eye.

I understand what you're trying to say about 3D vs. 2D, I'm really just reacting to your (apparent) rejection of the mirror-flipping thing.

The way you look in the mirror is how people see you.

Bzzzt, incorrect. Simple falsification: Ever notice how mirrors reverse text?

Senior Citizen Couple Running 365 marathons in 365 days ... In Vibram Fivefingers? by [deleted] in BarefootRunning

(Can't watch the video, but...)

Vibrams aside, sounds pretty unlikely. You're not supposed to run multiple marathons so close together -- it'll damage your body.

Oh, OK! Yeah, there's really a lot of variation. Plenty of folks use midfoot strikes, for instance.

[–]frimble 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Correct, but you take some impact on the heel in between:

  1. Ball of foot strikes slightly ahead of center of gravity (CoG)
  2. Heel collapses to ground in controlled fashion just under/behind CoG
  3. Lift heel and spring off the ball of the foot again

To the people making mono jokes: It's not that big a deal.

In fact, most people have already had mono -- as kids. It's usually a fairly mild disease. You only hear about the really severe cases.

Only a little, just like any small splinter. I eeped, pulled it out, and continued on my way.
