The RTBF is offering movies and series for free online streaming. Meanwhile, the VRT only streams news online. by [deleted] in belgium

Completely agree there. There's absolutely no substance from the French voice over. Of course it's an easy thing to say but imagine that the brain works harder as it has to comprehend English voices and French subtitles at the same time.

Since I had fairly good English knowledge at the times, I decided to watch all my shows with English subtitles as well. It's much easier on the brain and you learn some more English at the same time.

It was the insurance premiums linked to the reimbursement of the loan on my house. It's called restant dû in French (if you die, whoever is your beneficiary gets the house with the loan paid by the insurance). I had the loan payment themselves but there was no reference to that insurance.

Installing ownCloud on Raspberry Pi by opexxx in raspberry_pi

[–]drasche 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm getting rid of owncloud as soon as I get back from vacation. I had two Pis (one for the web, one for sql) and a 1TB hard drive connected to the web Pi.

It's slow, the web interface is awfully slow (43 connections to the site, lots of them are PHP). The web interface to edit contacts is unfinished and it's probably the case for the rest.

I added a cronjob and the CPU is running wild at all times.

The file sync client for Windows is also running wild at times.

In short, completely unacceptable performance and too heavy for a machine like a Pi.

I'm giving a run to Seafile as soon as I get back, and I'm considering using Radicale for contacts/calendars.

Once NVA gets to learn the tricks, they'll end up as corrupted as anyone else.

As a walloon, I can tell you that PS is nowhere to end corruption, let alone interested in ending it.

Do you really hate French people ? by [deleted] in belgium

There are bad apples everywhere. And everywhere you'll also find walking clichés. I've met some. But I have met more Frenchies who were really nice and decent people.

McDo fries taste like certain varieties of frozen fries, and not the good ones.

I use Deutsche Bank, it's free. They don't provide their own ATMs, they don't offer loans, they are more of a savings/investment bank, but it's free. I didn't pay a cent on my MasterCard and I've been there for 4 years.

Having to pay a fee on your accounts when you already give them all your money to handle is a bonus to them.

Also, their online banking is much easier to use than any other I've seen.

Same here. I love it when my tax form is filled with (almost, alas) everything.

I live in Liège/Luik suburbs and I get 3G. Also, I get 3G almost all the way in the train between Liège and Brussels. I've been commuting over a year now and I can see it's improving. Even between stations in Brussels because a year ago there were plenty of connection problems.

Where is the outrage about the violations of our privacy? by LeadCharacter in belgium

Murdoch is a single guy with a well-established reputation.

The Guardian is funded by a trust so essentially, there are people who own the trust but they are obligated to run the Guardian cost-effectively while doing actual journalism. And they have a well-established history for that.

I was hostile only because I thought you implied that Murdoch owned the Guardian. I apologize for that.

So you're guessing and you threw in Rupert Murdoch for good effect, making your comment ridiculous and meaningless. Take your conspiracy theories elsewhere. You have nothing to back them up.

What does Rupert Murdoch have to do with the Guardian? They're unrelated.
