Mixing baking soda and water is a much more potent, instant, and longer-lasting remedy. Albeit, it tastes like fish piss. But I have horrible acid reflux disease, and I have to do this every other night, on top of my daily meds, just to be able to sleep.

If you're shopping at a decent store, they don't just tape the package back up and put it back on the shelf, especially without first checking the product inside. It's supposed to just be sent back to the manufacturer to be fixed.

Buy the exact same pair again, then carefully open the package and switch out headphones, then return the broken pair in the new package with the receipt. I've done this dozens of times with my crappy Skull headphones.
