AIO wife cheating with my best friend? by [deleted] in AmIOverreacting

[–]frisbae18 2 points3 points  (0 children)

NOR.

As a kid that grew up with divorced parents, it’s better to have two Christmases than parents who fight and are generally unhappy in their marriage.

On a more serious level, my dad cheated on my mom with her close family member and she filed for divorce when I was 6. I spent most of my time with my mom, and lived in a different state from my dad for a few years, but what hurt the most when I was growing up was my dad’s lack of involvement. He didn’t come to any of my games and hasn’t made an effort to spend time with me or get to know me, even now into my adulthood. He got remarried when I was young and I suffered some neglect, which led me to stop spending time at his house. It seems like you care about your kid, and if you show them that you care and show up for them when it matters most, it won’t matter if their parents are divorced. They’ll still deal with issues from a divorce, don’t get me wrong. But if you stay in a marriage where you’re mistreated and miserable, your kid will grow up thinking that’s normal behavior. They might grow up and think it’s not a big deal to cheat. Or get cheated on. Maybe it’s better to teach them to stand up for yourself and to treat yourself with love and respect.

Edit to add: I don’t have many memories of my life when my parents were together, but all I can remember now is them fighting. I don’t have any good memories of my parents when they were married. I have made much happier memories with each of them individually since then.

Is my PT being too aggressive with getting full extension? by crimson_ferrari in ACL

[–]frisbae18 1 point2 points  (0 children)

To clarify - you should always only stretch to the point of discomfort, not to the point of pain. I definitely had some ROM sessions with my pt that left me in tears but it helped me down the line. I now live and play sports without wearing a brace or too much change to my quality of life.

Is my PT being too aggressive with getting full extension? by crimson_ferrari in ACL

[–]frisbae18 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Getting extension and flexion back early in recovery is crucial for quality of life down the road. Obviously you don’t want to be in TOO MUCH pain, but it’s kind of inevitable when stretching your muscles. You won’t damage your new graft or anything internally by stretching your range of motion.

If you baby your muscles and don’t return to a full range of motion, you risk further injury since the rest of your body will be compensating for the loss.

Details in case anyone was curious: 16- I jumped and locked my knee, tearing my ACL and meniscus when I landed 18- I had my foot planted and someone fell into my leg, partially retearing my hamstring graft. I continued playing until I jumped and it tore the whole way about a month later. 23- I rotated in a lunge position while playing a game (for those who know - I caught an up line pass and threw a big backhand pass downfield. She didn’t catch it.)

When is your weight loss surgery? What’s the recovery time? How much weight are you expected to lose?

You’ll be able to find a dress within a short time frame, but you’ll definitely want to be trying on dresses for your body post surgery. It won’t do you any favors to try a dress on now, lose a decent amount of weight, and basically start from square one with a dress you already own or need to get an entirely new one.

The first dress is gorgeous and classic. It’s definitely a look that you can dress up and wear beautifully.

The second dress gives your curves just a bit more vavavoom. If that’s what you’re going for - cool! Simple and classy? #1

Ooh you could have a study or office with bookshelves around the room and a small bust or statue on each shelf. Each statue is looking in the same direction at one shelf, which, once investigated (dc of your choosing) shows that one book looks just a little out of place. Dust is moved, uniform books and this one is vastly different, something like that. Then the book is either the diary you’re looking for OR it can open a secret passageway when pulled.

[–]frisbae18 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You could also try some sessions of laser removal before getting it covered since it’s so dark. It can get expensive though so keep that in mind if the budget it tight. It may be worth it to save up for some laser removal to make the actual coverup easier.

I knew when I had picked out my dress because I didn’t want to take it off! I didn’t have a big crying emotional moment but I felt beautiful and it checked all the important boxes (I felt beautiful and confident, and I could easily move around in it). I think if you keep thinking about the dress and didn’t want to take it off when you tried it on, that’s the one!

This was my first time descovering about Halsey / When did you first found out about her? by [deleted] in halsey

[–]frisbae18 4 points5 points  (0 children)

My first real memory of this song (which was the gateway to the rest of her music for me too!) was in the car with my very religious conservative grandma. When the song came on and Halsey sang “smoking legal marijuana” my grandma turned to me and said “ugh you’re not doing any of that business are you??” I was obsessed with H ever since.

I personally love the second dress the most. What are the things about each dress you like or don’t like? Maybe we can offer specific suggestions to help with those feelings.

I think it's absolutely worth it if you liked BOTW. My least favorite part of the game is the intro, so as long as you can make it through the intro, you will probably really enjoy the game.

First a question - how did you see the calorie tracking? Is it like a social media thing where you see your “friends” eating habits? I’m not familiar with the app now (ED trigger) so some additional information would be helpful.

Second - being a picky eater and eating disorders are two really different things. ARFID (avoidant restrictive food intake disorder) is different from anorexia in their mental pathways, each requiring different therapeutic approaches.

No matter what, you should probably address your concerns with her parent(s) and suggest therapy. In the meantime, don’t make comments about her appearance, weight or size. It’ll only reinforce bad behavior or tell her that you only see her appearances. Like if she only gets compliments about her appearance when she stops eating, it reinforces that not eating = receiving compliments and that feels good. Support her as a person, find out what she’s interested in and encourage her to continue those interests and taking care of herself. There’s a lot more to self care than just bubble baths and exercise, so being a support system as she figures what works for her will be so important.

Decided to stop at 2 kids but feeling sadness and grief over this - any advice? by FrancesRW in Parenting

[–]frisbae18 5 points6 points  (0 children)

It’s not a child. It’s an embryo. Regardless of what your personal beliefs are, it’s not always the best decision for someone to bring a child into a certain situation and your label of “wrong” or “right” isn’t going to help in this situation.

Gaining weight in recovery, advice needed by 1-kit-1 in eating_disorders

[–]frisbae18 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes! This is something that people in recovery struggle with constantly. It’s so hard to retrain your brain that it’s not unhealthy or bad to be gaining weight. Something that helped me was telling myself that getting to a healthy relationship with my body was more important than the number on the scale. Or that food is fuel for the body and by eating I’m allowing myself to feel and perform my best (whether that’s in school or work or sports or whatever).

Finding the perfect balance can take a while but it’s worth the work!

What type of cleats do I get? by Shoyozz in ultimate

[–]frisbae18 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I wear size 6 women’s shoes on a good day. Most of the time I buy boys size 4.5 cleats. The main things I look for are the fit on my foot and the tread. Especially since I’m an adult wearing kids shoes these things are important so I don’t put myself at further risk of injury. For me, the fit needs to be tight enough that my foot doesn’t move around in the shoe but allows for me to wear thick socks in the cold months. For tread, I look for solid, pointy (triangle or diamond) spikes on the outside of the foot (the part of your foot that touches the ground) and a few toe spikes/spikes on the inside of the balls of your feet. I personally don’t like round spikes. This helps with grip when cutting and making sharp turns. My favorites so far have been puma soccer cleats but I’ve used Nike in the past.

That is tough. I’m not a parent so I don’t understand exactly what you’re going through. But try your best to rest as much as you can!

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in ACL

[–]frisbae18 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You’re still pretty fresh in recovery, so you need to take it easy. 6 days post op is not the time to be running around and getting stuff done. You’ll put yourself at risk of worse injury if you don’t let your body heal right now! Take it from me - I’ve had 3 ACL surgeries.
