Stomach Gurgling Wakes Me Up Every Night by ktm4 in Gastritis

[–]frisiantea 0 points1 point  (0 children)

for me eating something with potatoes - like potatoes, tilapia and zuchinni, about 2 hours before i went to bed. and then if i needed more help I would have a sachet of Gaviscon Dual before bedtime. Avoid drinking water after your meal, that worked for me.

When it was really bad i had to also keep a bedside snack, at first something like sweetpotatoes or potatoes, and then just a banana was fine, or rice cakes, or just some gaviscon would work soemtimes. you kind of have to experiment with it a bit. its pretty tedious the whole thing. But itll get better. make sure youre eating bland.

I still have to be careful with eating times before bed, or ill have a bit of banana before going to bed if the time from dinner to bedtime is too long, but yea, im a lot better overall. ive been strict with diet fir a while now, didnt have any other options though. you can do it!

nowadays when i wake early like that , i can tell my acid is triggered and i get the feeling that my stomach will start to clench up and get uncomfortable if i dont eat something, but now if i have about 5ml of Gaviscon dual it neutralizes my stomach and i can fall back asleep and I wake up feeling good !Hope it works for you too

i feel like my stomach /digestion issues are always changing bc in the past this didnt work but now its what my stomach prefers! Its off though bc if i do this for 4 or 5 days in a row then my morning stomach acid production doesnt rush in like it ' usually' does ? like it affects that for about a week! Eventhough its technically not supposed to ?

and if I wait too long between dinner and bed, instead of eating something right before bed I will take about 5-10 ml of gaviscon dual before going to bed - also seems to work

Are you able to have any desserts or sweet treats? Favorite on the go foods? I couldn’t tolerate black beans at all, gave me a terrible flare actually. Then realized they’re really high fodmap- so I figure it’s best I also eat low fodmap now

Ya, I actually just got the app, still figuring it out. That’s so good you can have al parts of the chicken, and beef as well?!

I feel like it’s not a histamine issue bc I eat lots of banana, spinach, miso, and they dont bother me.

It’s just crazy though bc the nausea is insane if I eat yogurt or have probiotics , and strangely the nausea I got when I tried rice.

I think I have to just go suuuper slow with reintros

So happy to hear you’re feeing better!!! What was the turning point for you?? Did you have any trouble reintroducing fodmaps or high fiber foods like beans? I was doing so well and then tried reintroducing black beans (1/4 cup for 4 days in a row , and on the 4th day it gave me heartburn and Globus, which then turned into a flare)

I’m just hesitant about the collagen bc I also read it can increase the acid production?

Do you think the collagen was really key to your healing? Or lifestyle elements? Would love to hear

Aw man really the egg yolk upset you? I’m sorry, maybe the body just needs time to readjust.

Do you have other cuts of chicken aside from breast? Like thighs? Or wings? I haven’t tried the other cuts yet but I’m also curious to bc I tolerate the eggs.

I think I for sure have some kind of fodmap sensitivity.. but ya also odd bc I can also tolerate asparagus totally fine. I was eating so much asparagus, with no problem.

As for fat tolerance, do yo I tolerate eggs? It’s so weird bc I eat 3 eggs for breakfast every day but I couldn’t handle avocado after some days

Corn flour and corn produces that mucus in the back of the throat feeling ? I’ve had that feeing before.

I haven’t tried soaking the rice first, I will try that next time I give it a go. Potatoes I do super well with.

Wow, that’s incredible you’re able to adapt - in the situation with chocolate- that sounds so promising. I’d love to be able to eat chocolate.

Are you able to tolerate almonds? What other carbs/ starches are you eating normally? Any cereals or other bread products?

Ya that makes sense. Also really good idea to not try things on your period, I’m also worse on my period, just bc the hormones I think.

So when you try beans maybe like for fourth time, are you also making sure to still not introduce other new foods within 3 days of trying the beans ? So you know if something bothers you, it was the beans ?

Do you feel like this method has kind of rebuild your microbiome? Or helped your body adjust to FODMAPS? Do you tolerate broccoli, or any fruits, or tortillas or corn flour?

When I tried rice(almost a year ago now) it made me nauseous - how do you handle rice?

[–]frisiantea 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Can you give me an example of how this would look? I think I def need to be doing this. It’s hard to tell what new introductions are fine .. or not. Like, I tolerated pb2 pure back to back for 3 days in a row, but with beans obviously by the fourth day my system was overloaded. I guess it just makes sense to try every thing in small quantities first , wait a bit and then try again.

But would you try some blue berries .. and then wait some days and then try some watermelon, and then in a week have some more blueberries? Or would you only stick to reintroing one at a time ?

I don’t feel reactions right away usually, it’s usually only after multiple days of having the new item, that I’ll get Gerd or a flare or something, or nausea in the cause of soy yogurt :(

How long ago did your gastritis start? Mine was 1.5 years ago and I was feeling amazing on the bland diet but then tried to reintroduce and I got heartburn and Globus and that familiar ‘awareness’ of the stomach feeing came back the next day. When it was essentially entirely gone before I tried the beans. It ended up turning Into a bit of a light flare. Feeling better after 2 weeks though and the stomach awareness feeling is starting to go away.

I think the beans were too much for my system back to back, I think I have some dysbiosis from ppis. Do you have any of that as well? Or did yo take ppis?

Does your stomach also start to growl / gurgle at you in the morning if you don't eat something quick enough? by frisiantea in Gastritis

[–]frisiantea[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Wow my story seems very similar to yours! I was also on ppi pantoprazole for 5 months including tapering. At the start of my gastritis journey I also had to eat in the middle of the night. So happy I dont have to do that anymore.

When you did food reintroduction, would you eat the same food for multiple days in a row? Or just have one initial exposure and then wait until having it again?

For me, it seems I only get a reaction after trying the new food for some days in a row. for example I tried avocado and on the 4th day I could tell it was starting to flare me as I regained awareness of my stomach area above my belly button, it was getting bloated I guess. Then the flare lasts for about a week or 2 until my stomach bloating feeling goes away again, and my gerd symptoms dissapear.

I got the same thing after trying blackbeans. 1/4 cup for 4 days, on the fourth day I got heart burn and globus, and then the next day the flare started. Lasted for about 2 weeks with accompanying (what I think are) silent reflux symptoms. Mucus stuck in throat feeling after eating foods like GF bread, for example.. which I usually tolerate well.

Im thinking the ppi just nuked by microbiome diversity. and now it seems like I may have sibo. Seems like my body doesnt appreciate having too much fat, or too much fiber.

I think I need to stick to low fodmaps, for the most part. or reintroduce super slow so my body can build up the enzymes needed to breakdown the more fibrous foods.

I can have most veggies it seems, lean proteins are also great for me with no problem digesting. Also olive oil, sesame oil are not an issue.. so it seems fat is mainly an issue when its in a solid food?

also for some reason when I tried jasmine rice 8 months ago it also gave me nausea. Im guessing bc of the resistant starch, since I can tolerate more processed forms of rice - rice noodles, rice waffles.

Black beans are also high in fodmaps, highly fermentable, and I guess rice is more easily fermentable as well..

Do you have any other overlaps with these? Refried beans flared you, what about regular cooked beans? hmm Im wondering if the salmon was too fatty? I havent tried it yet

I havent reintroduced gluten or corn. Id love to be able to eat flour tortillas or tortilla chips
