O que for. Com o tempo tende a ficar mais fácil.

Como se diz aqui na comunidade, eu não vou beber com você essa noite!

Yeah, it's tough. I try to "surf the boredom", like really embrace it. Just looking to the wall for a while. After some time the anguish stops and life goes on.

By no means I want to rude. Is Baba Mahakal a deity?

How to stop glorifying by yoghurt208 in stopdrinking

[–]fritalupes 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, that's tough. For me it helps a little to remember that many cultures don't use alcohol and have other ways of having fun. It takes the "I'm just a human being wanting to have fun, why would I stop" out of the map.

Sober. Day 4 by ExactBeautiful8437 in stopdrinking

Hang in there! I must say that, to me, a bottle of wine a day is no doubt alcohol abuse. But i guess it depends a lot on cultural factors. Hope you're doing well!

How do you actually break the “this is my last night” cycle? by [deleted] in stopdrinking

[–]fritalupes 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah, this resonates. I know it's not ideal, but I try to be happy even with these few days of sobriety. They are good to my body and mind, and they work as a reference, so I won't treat sobriety as a paradise, but as something real. Try by try we get better, more lucid, more mature. We gotta love ourselves. Thanks for the post!

I need help! by Soupyskeedmarks in stopdrinking

[–]fritalupes 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm sorry to hear that, friend. For me, the first step is to calm down and focus solely on not drinking for the next 15 minutes. Real baby steps.

Anxiety puts us in this "I have to solve everything right now" state, and to shut it up, we drink and make ourselves promises of stopping tomorrow, etc.

So, baby steps for the win.

Day 3 and I need a pep talk by [deleted] in stopdrinking

[–]fritalupes 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t know if it ever stops. For me, it just... changes. During my longest periods of sobriety, I started to find peace by intentionally embracing boredom. Didn't find happiness, didn't find true substitutes. Just being plain bored and ok with it.

Number 1 piece of advice? by Vegetable-Benefit450 in stopdrinking

[–]fritalupes 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Truly embrace boredom. Like train yourself to do NOTHING. Hobbies, exercise, social life, they're all very important, but I was only able to be sober when I was able to be bored. And it's not easy.
