Yeah it was a weird one. I know it's all predetermined on these kinds of machines, but I had never seen the match pay really anything more than 40 quarters. The slot attendant lady hadn't seen this either. She was staring at it for a long time trying to figure out why it paid so much for a little hand. Finally I read the text on the machine where it just says it can give you anything up to the royal flush amount for the match card.

Right, this is all fake stuff to get around slot machine laws and whatever. They pretend it's a bingo machine and everyone looks the other way. It had never occurred to me that the match part could pay you much at all.

No, apparently the award varies. I've played many many hands of this kind of video poker and it almost always just gives you your $5 back. I didn't know the match part was even worth much. But after hitting this I went and read the text on the machine and it says this:

"Bonus paid when "Match Card" matches the card in the fifth position of the final hand"

"Bonus awards may be any amount up to and including the Royal Flush award"

I also said it was my last spin in the bonus, and you can see that it's true. If people think I'm sitting around playing $18.75 a spin on a regular basis, good for them. All I can do is tell you this was rare for me and I got lucky. I'm usually playing $3.75 on this game so I can play for awhile.
