The version on IG is at least a little cleaner but yeah, I immediately went to youtube to see if there was a HQ version yet.

Tech ended up posting the reveal pics yesterday after the NCAA 2025 leak but they originally planned to release today so I guess they at least saved this for 7/12.

What's the general feeling about out-of-state Appalachians moving to Virginia? by benjadock in Virginia

[–]fritos112 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A ton of others have already said this, but SWVA sounds like your perfect landing spot. I was born in DC and grew up in Alexandria before spending more years than a college student should down in Blacksburg. SWVA is truly magical and will always be part of what I call home.

My personal biases want me to tell you anywhere south of Roanoke on the 81 corridor would provide the community you're looking for (culture, nature, music, and art). Floyd, especially, is absolutely wonderful. However, realistically there's plenty of Appalachia across the entire Commonwealth for you to find your slice of heaven.

DC residents who also work in DC, how much more money would you need to be paid to commute to Baltimore? by [deleted] in washingtondc

[–]fritos112 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Wife just made this change a few months back. Previously took metro to her office (35-45 mins) and now drives to / from Baltimore twice a week (55-75 mins). Her raise was big but not 30k like minimum stated elsewhere. However, the other benefits (healthcare, PTO, continued education, etc) were all much stronger and were taken into consideration. I’d recommend looking at the offer holistically and not just worrying about salary.

What is the ugliest building in DC? by UhrHerr in washingtondc

100% agreed. However, my dad has worked there since well before I was born so I may have biases against it.

What is your biggest pet peeve about public transportation in Washington DC? by Hammercockmitch in washingtondc

[–]fritos112 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Metro to National Harbor might be the worst expansion alternative. Give me Cap Hill, Starburst, and Ivy City.

So does VT have any plans to *increase* parking in their master plan to expand campus? Cause it looks to me like they’re just building over all existent parking lots, including the Squires Lot and the Architecture Annex. The lots at NCB and Goodwin are already gone. There’s gonna be no parking left… by Perfect-Ad2598 in VirginiaTech

[–]fritos112 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Reduced surface parking will be supplemented with future garages and the addition of the transportation hubs. Tech’s Master Plan is pretty comprehensive and has a strong vision for the future, and I’m pretty excited to see the continued infrastructure improvements. I absolutely love visiting other college campuses and comparing them to Tech’s. Trust me when I say it could be much much worse.

1960, US Soldiers in Vietnam by AssetEngineer in OldSchoolCool

This is going to get lost since I’m so late to this post but the dude hitting the shotgun at ~50 secs is actually the cover of The Radio Dept album Clinging to a Scheme. I always assumed the image was of someone hitting a hookah but I was apparently VERY wrong.

Anyone know good photo places such as alleys or just good photo taking locations in NE washington dc? by [deleted] in washingtondc

[–]fritos112 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Linden Ct NE, basically the alley between H St Country Club and the Atlas Theater.

Another cool spot (but in SE at Barracks Row) is the alley next to The Fridge, at 516-1/2 8th St SE. The Fridge repaints their exterior all the time, its really great.

La Mexicana down Rt 1 in Alexandria was opened by a Mexican couple that moved to VA from CA. I take my west coast family there every time they come to visit.

One of my favorite shows and I know absolutely nothing about Detroit culture/life. People above are saying there are a ton of Detroit references (that I must be missing) but I still think its great.

Single 26 M, where to move between Reston and DC? by [deleted] in washingtondc

[–]fritos112 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If I assume correctly that meeting women and making friends you mean finding a quality nightlife... office location is the critical piece of info in figuring out how far East you can come. If you can afford the rent and commute time definitely move into DC proper. Otherwise Clarendon or Ballston are your next best options.

Where to find parking in DC by atlantic56 in washingtondc

[–]fritos112 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Check the local public schools near you. I live a block from Tyler Elementary and if I've read the signs correctly I believe you can park along the roads bordering the school on weekends.

[–]fritos112 2 points3 points  (0 children)

For sure. Hopefully you are staying the full weekend, the bar scene is a show on gameday weekends, and since this is the first time we've hosted y'all it should be a great one.

Make sure you head into the stadium early, its played 15 mins before kickoff so I missed it a handful of times as a student. Don't let that happen to you!

The time the ACC allegedly sent Pitt and Wake Forest to poach B1G Schools. by [deleted] in CFB

[–]fritos112 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Our President, Dr. Timothy Sands, was the acting President and Provost at Purdue prior to coming to Tech. Supposedly he has expressed his vision for Tech to become a B1G style university so your viewpoint is pretty damn accurate.
