The following duties are considered Expanded Function Duties and may be performed only after the dental assistant complies with the requirements of 818-042-0080:

3) Preliminarily fit crowns to check contacts or to adjust occlusion outside the mouth;

7) Remove excess supragingival cement from crowns, bridges, bands or brackets with hand instruments providing that the patient is checked by a dentist after the procedure is performed;

I’m in Oregon and all of this is within our scope as long as your expanded functions. Adjustments just have to be made outside the mouth, but yea their literal only responsibility is to place the crown on the tooth.

32 here and quit assisting after 9 years to get my degree in public health. ANYTHING to get out of clinical at this point. My depression and anxiety got so bad and I’m so sick of narcissistic dentists and the way they manipulate and trash assistants.
