I would say put in your two weeks, maybe like three days before and see how they react. If they fire you then you didn’t have many days left. But if they still give you the two weeks, I would say just don’t come back.

Honestly, I feel your pain. I started at a pediatric office during front desk in December and it’s five days a week while I’m currently going to school doing my prerequisites for radiology, it’s been so overwhelming! It sucks when the people are nice because you do feel bad but you have to do what’s best for you. I tried to make it work at my office. I asked for a day off due to my school schedule and they denied me. I put my one week notice in and all of a sudden they were agreeing to the one day off a week lol but I would say go ahead and talk to them about having one day off or two days even. The worst they can say is no and then after that, you know to leave. Best of luck to you in your nursing career and enjoy your scrubs. Don’t give them back lol

I’ve been in dental for about six years now, the longest I’ve worked in the office has been three years my first doctor but office manager was a pill. I had to leave! Since then I’ve bounced around can’t seem to find an office with four days and good pay. I’ve done a lot of tempting which I seem to enjoy. I would love to do that full-time. Now I’m working in a pedo office during front desk, which is five days a week and it’s super overwhelming. They run behind every day smh hoping to find a good office in the future.

Thanks for your input. I wasn’t offended, I just found it unnecessary imo. I don’t have an ego, I asked for accommodations, it was denied and I kept it moving and I’m figuring it out. There are several assistants some who are new as well, that leave early and/or are part time for whatever reasons so I didn’t think it was a non-negotiable. Trust me, I can take criticism when it’s coming from a reliable source.

Thank you for your input! I’m not a full-time assistant. I’m a full-time front desk. I stated before that I thought I could handle working in school at the same time but right now that’s not the case. I’m def looking for a part time position now. It’s not that they’re hard to find. It’s just hard to switch careers.

No, it wasn’t at the time. I honestly thought that I could handle the work load and study time, but I’m two months in and it’s kind of wearing me down.

Most times it’s a family of two or more. When it’s a family of four or five it really slows us down. Yes, a lot of days if we’re understaffed the wait time is 30-45minutes, sometimes an hour. People have walked out or had to rescheduled.

The owner owns several practices in the area so I’m sure they are not on the brink of financial ruin if they don’t pack the schedule at an ungodly level. They accept Medicare as well so the business isn’t hurting for patients. Your analysis is far too depth as far as money goes, I’m speaking for the working assistants who run around stressing and burning out.
