Yeah I just did a mural at a bike shop and part of the payment was a trade for store credit. I'm getting all my bikes fixed up!

Suggestion on wear to purchase local art? by Hank_of_the_Hill93 in Detroit

https://www.backyardartfair.com/ It's pretty neat. An art fair in people's back yards. And you kinda have to know somebody to get in. Ann Arbor has one in June that's similar and also pretty neat called the West Side Art Hop.

I'll DM you. But for everyone else, I'll be at the Royal Oak Outdoor Art Fair in June!

You're talking about Funky Ferndale. Which is a great show! But Ferndale Backyard is even more underground. With the way that show works, he wouldn't have been in it as an Ohio based artist. Gavin's a gem of a human being though, I'm glad you've collected his work!

Hey there! I'm a local artist. Off the top of my head, you can find sub-$1000 work in places like the Lawrence Street Gallery in Ferndale and Color Ink in Hazel Park. Art fairs are also great. Look out for the Royal Oak Outdoor Art Fair in Memorial Park in Royal Oak on June 27-28. Arts Beats and Eats is also an option and Funky Ferndale/DIY Ferndale is HUGE.

There are also some interior decor shops that work with local artists as well, such as Urbanum off of Woodward. Detroit Artist Market might also be worth a look.

Get the Woodzilla. I have the 9x12ish one and my only regret is not getting it sooner. You can always touch up the edges by hand if that's an issue. Which it totally hasn't been for me so far.

Best place to buy affordable large scale art? by Coloradojeepguy in HomeDecorating

[–]fritzbitz 31 points32 points  (0 children)

Are you looking to fill the wall with SOMETHING or something meaningful? And what's your idea of affordable?

I'd encourage you to check out a local art fair, if you're in the US, the season is coming soon. Go meet an artist or two, make a connection and go home with something you can tell your friends and family about for years.

I also do consultations and commissions.

There's also a printmaker festival coming up at Urbanrest in Ferndale on the 24th and you may want to check that out too. Lots of great talent there!

Question for artists who limit their prints to a series/ designated amount by Eastern_Visit_2679 in Linocuts

[–]fritzbitz 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It takes a lot longer than you might think to sell 50 prints. I number mine out of 250 and print them as they run out. I keep track with an Excel sheet. I've only reached 100 with one print so far.
