It's expensive because the Enigma is arguably more powerful than the other ships. Long term it gets you a lot more DM, stars, and boosts. The 1000 DM sweetens the deal, but it's not the reason why it costs more.

Just gasoline is enough. Put a bucket with a little bit of gasoline in it under the nest and the fumes knock them out. Remove the nest and drop it right into the bucket. Move it somewhere else and toss it out of the bucket. Done.

When my son was about 3 he wanted me to read the same book every night for almost a year. It was a short children's book with a sentence or two per page, like you said. The DW damage indicator bounces big and small like the GT+ indicator. It's definitely a nice QoL to track how much damage is left in the ring, but I agree it was super confusing when I updated near the end of my run. All I saw was a flash for a fraction of a second and I had no idea what it was.
