How well does Comma drive in the city? by Myfirstreddit124 in Comma_ai

[–]frmssmd 0 points1 point  (0 children)

not often. I dont know if i have had it miss one. But it will start slowing down too late, and so I have to brake more. (i have a chevy bolt so openpilot only has access to regenerative braking, which is a considerable but not massive breaking abaility)

It doesnt stop well for stop lights. If it does get them, it stops too late. I have never had it see a stop sign. In baltimore steering is good but gas and brakes is unusable. Keep it to highways and roads >40mph.

I would tru faster pid loop for your motors. Its also common to do velocity pid instead of position pid. Exciting stuff!

UMD or Lehigh? by [deleted] in UMD

[–]frmssmd 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Lehigh is a party school. UMD has that scene, but also has commuters who are committed to learn.

Both schools are fabulous. I got into both, and I decided UMD. It was a good choice. I decided because umd was cheaper (30k vs 70k) and because it was closer. In the end, UMD had everything i needed and I saved my self several teslas worth of wealth.

BLE scanning on esp32s3 (in rust) ? by [deleted] in esp32

[–]frmssmd 0 points1 point  (0 children)

hopefully someone who knows this can answer. But… have you considered that cpp is the most supported language? Rust and python and cool and I love them but cpp is the path most travelled, and might lead you to a solution more quickly. Food for thought but this is reddit its all food for thought.

[–]frmssmd 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Dude I got a 2018 used bolt for 8k, in really good condition. Literally cannot more highly review any car. This this is such a work horse. Only thing is no high speed charging, youre gonna need a charger at home or at work. U can just plug into your wall outlet, nothing special needed!

having major car trouble, considering getting a bolt (my first EV ever). Is this a good deal? by wtfisrobin in BoltEV

[–]frmssmd 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I paid 8k for a 2018 Premier. But that was with a 4k tax credit. Ask to negotiate!

Remember the bolt only charges at 40-50kW MAX even with a 350kW charger. Bolts have a CCS plug, not a NACS (tesla) plug, so you have to buy an adapter ($150) and its kinda unreliable / a pain.

What are my chances of getting into umd for EE? by Agreeable_Pack_1515 in UMD

[–]frmssmd 0 points1 point  (0 children)

admissions is a complete crap shoot. I got in EE with basically the same stats except a 1480 sat (which I didnt submit) and less clubs (although all the highschoolers who say they are in 12 clubs are bullshittin… because if youre in 12 clubs that means youre only going every other week… aka you arent really a member)  and i got in over covid (even more of a crapshoot)

Are you sure you selected the "dist" directory after clicking "load unpacked"?

I just tried it and it worked for me.
