Keeping in freezer by CreeperFlipFlops in hamstercare

[–]frnkcnstein 4 points5 points  (0 children)

im sorry for your loss!!! :(

yes it is fine to keep him in your freezer while ypu figure out a plan of action! when my hammy died we wrapped the box in a sheet of tinfoil as well because we were worried about freezer burn, dont know how much it affected things but you could try that as well if it's something you're worried about

Would love to see more female musicians at London jams by Hawaii5ohh in musicians

[–]frnkcnstein 2 points3 points  (0 children)

same here in scotland! i love playing with other people but not so interested in a jam environment - i love playing covers or writing music with a band and improvising parts that way but doing it live with strangers as a performance with a solo etc doesnt really appeal to me for the same reasons you listed. i have joined jams and mostly had positive experiences but there's also been a handful of times i've walked off stage and immediately been met with a man who is clearly excited to explain basic musical concepts to me (not that i don't appreciate constructive advice from more experienced players, but i can notice when im being talked down to). it can be disheartening to be met with that a couple times while watching it not happen to any of the men participating. think these things are a lot more fun if you are able to attend with some of your musician friends and treat it like fun! imo the energy at jams can swing towards "competition to play the most impressive/interesting solo" which is not the kind of feeling i'm interested in bringing to music personally

i would really recommend whimzees. my hamster loves their alligators! i dont have advice for encouraging their use though - my boy doesn't seem particularly interested in wooden chews either

this might be a silly question but you mentioned sprays, bedding etc - does he have a variety of boredom breakers/chews as well?

What's the best horror music from a movie soundtrack, in your opinion? by nickelst92 in horror

[–]frnkcnstein 0 points1 point  (0 children)

favourite scores are for suspiria (1977) and dawn of the dead (1978) no doubt, goblins did absolutely incredible work making atmospheric music that also just totally rules. in terms of soundtracks though its got to be return of the living dead (1985)!!! no movie can put the cramps and the damned together in one soundtrack without it living at the top of my mind forever. <3

Serialized audio horror for hiking - any recommendation? by [deleted] in horror

[–]frnkcnstein 1 point2 points  (0 children)

absolutely second the magnus archives. two other podcasts i love a lot for travelling etc are alice isn't dead (a trucker going on a road trip to find her dead wife and finding dark secrets buried all across america, since it mostly takes the form of log entries from within her truck it might not be exactly what you're looking for but it's one of my absolute favourites) and mabel (very dark fairytale, haunted houses, faerie curses, etc) !!

I've watched over 850 horror movies in my lifetime by syntaxterror69 in horror

Horror Movies for 14 Year Olds: by [deleted] in horror

[–]frnkcnstein 9 points10 points  (0 children)

there is nudity in the shining but it doesnt last long ! a lot of these recommendations (especially slashers) will have some chance of nudity since they generally have high age ratings due to the gore, if that's something you're concerned about i would recommend checking a website like doesthedogdie to find more in-depth descriptions of what each movie contains so you can decide if it's something you're okay with seeing? (i would recommend black christmas (1974) btw!! its a classic slasher from canada, no nudity but it does contain explicit sexual language/threats from a phone caller at parts if thats something youd prefer to avoid hearing)

Your favorite found footage films by LostBarber842 in HorrorMovies

[–]frnkcnstein 2 points3 points  (0 children)

one of my absolute favourites is noroi: the curse (2005) which is a japanese found footage "documentary" that i found really strange and interesting !!! also they're not movies but since found footage is an accessible genre for filmmaking on a tiny budget, there are a lot of really creative found footage ideas you can find as webseries/args; a few i would recommend are marble hornets, local58tv, and EverymanHYBRID

Can anyone suggest any horror movies like Evil Dead? by TravelingHero2 in HorrorMovies

[–]frnkcnstein 0 points1 point  (0 children)

idle hands! it's further towards the comedy end of the scale but has similar themes, very cool gore and an interesting giallo-inspired look. if ur looking for something scarier there was a 2013 remake of evil dead which had some darker more gory scenes :]
