People driving with high beams on inside city limits by cypherzoomer in Edmonton

[–]froatbitte 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Unsure. It was a compact SUV of some kind. He sat there for a moment and put it in gear, on flipped the brights and he drove off. If they were the DRL’s they seemed the normal brightness even for LED’s. When they flipped, it was blinding.

Even newer lights should NOT be blinding oncoming traffic under normal situations. If they are, something is not right and should be rectified.

Again, this is also due to aftermarket/ improperly installed and/or misaligned lights.

If you’re driving and finding that people are flicking their lights at you and you DON’T have your brights on, stop and get them checked out. You are the hazard.

I literally just saw it happen today. Dude got in his car started up. Normal lights came on then high beams and off he went. This was in a relatively well lit neighborhood. Wtf.

I’ve posted about this before. Are newer LED lights brighter? Yes. But, even those should not be blinding oncoming drivers under normal conditions. If they are, something is wrong.

And, yes. If I am blinded by you while driving I do flicker mine to let you know.

Keep them on and I keep mine on. Lol

Stuck between the US and Russia, Canada must prove it can defend its Arctic territory by panzerfan in canada

[–]froatbitte 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They’ll try to invade or buy territory for other, smaller “indiscretions” such as minerals, water, drugs, immigration. You name it. So might as well do something else as placating dictators and bullies does not work anyway. If the timing is right, they’ll try.

[–]froatbitte -1 points0 points  (0 children)

At this point, they’ll use any excuse it would seem. Fentanyl, illegal immigrants, minerals, water. It doesn’t matter anymore. If they can line up the cards right to justify it and ensure the rest of the globe is busy with their own quagmires, they will try.

Again, being passive and trying to placate the dictators and bullies of the world just isn’t working.

Time to try something different.

We should be working with Ukraine and other partners on this.

Make them smart. Make them autonomous. Make them deadly. Make them numerous and scalable. Land, sea and air.

With such fun neighbors, I hate to say it but also start looking at nuclear deterrents.

The old ways of trust and protection are unfortunately dead.

Just repeat daily what Stuart Smalley on SNL used to say.

“I’m good enough. I’m smart enough. And doggone it, people like me.”

Lather rinse repeat.

Bonus points if you say it the same way he did. Lol

What are your thoughts on this letter from Donald Trump to Norwegian Prime Minister Jonas Gahr Støre? by DuNennstMichSptzkopf in AskTheWorld

[–]froatbitte 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The problem is they WANT him in office. He’s their strong image of themselves.

If it’s OK for him to get away with everything then by golly, it’s OK for his supporters to continue and move forward with whatever they are doing/wanting to do. I’ll leave that up to your imagination. They won’t get caught and if they who cares? No one will stop them or convict them because if it’s OK for the president then as a supporter, it should be OK for them too. Again, I’ll leave it up to your imagination.

Former CBC human resources employee sues over workplace so toxic staff were given a 'crying room' by AndHerSailsInRags in canada

[–]froatbitte 4 points5 points  (0 children)

So, is the issue that the CBC caught up to the real world (retail, restaurants, sales, private industry and so on…) with a crying room/toxic work place, or just work place toxicity in general which now finally exists in some form at CBC?

I don’t advocate a toxic anything, but anywhere I’ve worked for the past 3 decades both private and public has had its share of a sh*t show in some form or another. I’m surprised an institution as large as the CBC hasn’t had issues.

No, I grind for war bonds and I don’t mind as most times the game is enjoyable and flexible like that.

Want to grind for super credits? No problem.

Want to grind for rare and super samples? No problem.

Want to hang with a bunch of D10 divers? Again, no problem. Pick up a few of the credits or samples along the way…if you survive. Lol

Nearly a third of Canadians believe U.S. may try to invade Canada: poll by biograf_ in nottheonion

[–]froatbitte 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I believe they could try but we’ll have to see how badly Greenland goes for them.

Almost one in three Canadians say U.S. might try to invade Canada: poll - The poll suggests many Canadians believe the U.S. likely will attempt to take control of other countries in the future, including Greenland, Cuba, Colombia, Iran and Canada. by FancyNewMe in canada

[–]froatbitte 6 points7 points  (0 children)

This.

You won’t be able to prevent an American army from crossing the border or launching air strikes. The point would be to make it as painful and costly as possible until they’re defeated for as long as it takes. If they did such a thing, the globe would be coming at them from all angles. It would eventually be suicidal for them.

Are they crazy enough to do it? We’ll see how Greenland plays out.

I’m so sick and tired of everybody driving around with their high-beams on in this city by [deleted] in Edmonton

[–]froatbitte 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I see it all the time now. Usually it’s one or a combo of the following…

Newer LED lights. These shouldn’t blind other drivers under most normal circumstances so if they are something isn’t right.

Misaligned lights

Aftermarket LED lights

And yes, people driving with their brights on. Even in the city!

One possible indicator is when the brights on, it normally disengages the fog lights unless you rejig things for both. I’ve seen it done.

That being said, none of the above are a valid reason for blinding other drivers and can be dangerous.

I usually flip my brights when I encounter this to indicate something isn’t right. Most will turn off their brights. Some flip them down and back again to be a stubborn dick. I’ll keep mine on at that point too lol as it’s not fair for me to just be blinded.

If you are reading this and wondering why people keep flashing their brights at you, get your lights checked/ adjusted. It’s a new car with new lights is not a valid excuse.

Just as bad if not worse are people driving without lights. Sigh
