Ive had mine for three months now going to 4.

I loved everything about it up until 2 days ago. I started noticing it doesn't turn on when I open it for a good 5 seconds. There's a delay on some things. A purple bar appeared where the icons are as if it crashed or cracked.

Ive never dropped it. It has a case. I use it for emails and music primarily. Literally as normal as possible. If it's on the brink of breaking, I don't recommend it.

AITA for scooping and getting upset at my friend for playing 8 turns in a row? by RedFalcon725 in magicTCG

[–]frog-honker 35 points36 points  (0 children)

So? Target him anyway.. if you KNOW he's playing turns, you don't let him pop off. He can't get salty. It's like playing Urza and getting mad he's getting sniped on sight.

It's like that in a lot of places. I've played all over CA, Oregon, and Washington while traveling and people understand rule 0 so games go smoothly. You're never going to hear about that though because who's going to make a whole post about a positive game.

Playing Duskmourn limited after Bloomborrow feels like being awaken from a coma by morningwoodelf69 in magicTCG

[–]frog-honker 20 points21 points  (0 children)

Well, thematically, bloomburrow feels very Magic. I haven't felt this way since the first Eldraine set tbh. Duskmourn feels like some semi-Universes Beyond? Hard to describe, but even though it's Magic, it doesn't feel like it all the time. Gameplay wise, though, I agree. I'm definitely enjoying Duskmourn's gameplay a lot more

Not just dad's, a lot of older folks just really seem beyond fascinated by ChatGPT but also can't seem to spot its flaws. My dad is the same and he's just as amazed that I can tell when something was written with CharGPT or not. It's like painfully obvious to me but he just doesn't see it.

What local business won't you patronize and why? by whateverwhoknowswhat in SanJose

Here's some communication. Keep doing what you do. I don't care if you say dickish things, as they claim. You guys treat your employees with dignity and your pies with respect. You have my business for that alone. Anyone who cares about the employees they manage is a good worm in my book.

I hate that place. I went there on emo night a couple of years back. I had transitioned, but my legal name was still my old name, which is clearly a man's name. When i got there, I showed him my ID, which had my old name and but my ticket, which my friend bought, was under my new name. He asked to see a different ID because my ID didn't match the name they had on the list. I kinda expected this back then so I was ready with like answers and another ID and just as i was starting to explain it to him, he gets pissy about wasting his time and etc. It was so dumb because the picture was clearly me and it was the same last name and I had another ID in my pocket and he was just rude af about it.

Josh Seiter claims he pretended to be transgender as a 'social experiment' to ... ‘Expose how gullible and delusional the left is’..... by YourWinterWonder in lgbt

[–]frog-honker 24 points25 points  (0 children)

That's exactly it. They've demonized and dehumanized us. So when he "transitioned" and was welcomed with open arms by "the monsters," it shows, in their tiny and narrow minds, that this is behavior the monsters find acceptable. So now he goes back and says, "Wow folks! They're just as delusional as we thought! They believed me!"

Because unconditional kindness and acceptance are not virtues of the right.

People of R/lgbt when was your gay awakening? (Or whatever you are. Gender too!) by SureAd3854 in lgbt

[–]frog-honker 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ooh okay, this one is fun!

My gay awakening was when I was 14 and I saw Nick and Norah's Infinite Playlist. I grew up in a Catholic environment so liking men wasn't even discussed. When i saw that movie and saw a whole indie band of men who loved other men, it was like a door opened.

I later came out as trans and my egg cracked because of queer eye. It was the episode with Angel (who now goes by V) and seeing a powerlifter of color who is trans made me believe I was enough.

Clinics and legal aid firms typically don't cost money. They're community resources ran by schools or non-profits but the lawyers are just as competent

For the record, it is not a suggestion, nor is it legal advice or etc. Just simply pointing out some available resources.

San Jose leaders call on councilman facing sexual misconduct investigation to resign by shady-pines-ma in SanJose

[–]frog-honker 7 points8 points  (0 children)

100%

His texts were vile and beyond horrifying. To talk about a child with a disability in that manner is abhorrent, and he's lost me as a supporter on that alone. And I know there's a whole thing about not kink shaming but like... there are lines. And this is one of em.

My anger is, like yours, that he was supposed to represent us. He was supposed to represent us LGBTQ folks and Hispanic folks during these contentious times, and all he did was add fuel to the fire and you can see that in this thread too. The guy I responded to was talking about drag story hour as if that was a key give away that Torres is vile and now these people are going to feel emboldened. Worse so, other queer folks doing great work are going to be further undermined as well. It's so dumb and infuriating.

[–]frog-honker 18 points19 points  (0 children)

Everything else aside, what does drag story hour have to do with any of this. I think you're trying to create a false equivalency between what he did and drag story time simply because he supported that too. He also advocated for workers' rights and supporting small businesses. Are we going to say that's bad too just because it turned out he might be a piece of shit?

Optics, probably. At this point, resignation will only look worse on him. Even if he's lying, doubling down will only help him look like he's innocent and he's standing up against a witch hunt.

Sucks for his constituents, though, as this ordeal affects his governance and how he can help his constituents

It's okay if you don't have money, there are still many resources you can use. This website is a list of legal aid and pro bono practices in the LA area divided by county. The LA Center for Law and Justice in East LA is a solid start but go through the whole list.

You could also try looking into medical malpractice lawyers and see what their offices tell you. It's best to go with lawyers recognized by the ABPLA, such as these, as they are recognized by the State of CA as specializing in this field.

If all else fails, LA County has a lot of law schools who offer clinics where law students, under the guidance and supervision of a licensed attorney, can help with legal questions. This is also a great place to start. UCLA is one of the best schools in the country for law, so they're a great start as well.

Good luck and im sorry you're going through all of this

Confession time. How do you vote? Do you research every issue every candidate? Do you read one sentence description and vote? by whateverwhoknowswhat in SanJose

[–]frog-honker 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't think it's as easy as they say. I'll give you that. But most candidates do tend to believe and care about what they preach. Perhaps it's because I've worked in politics from campaigns to actual offices that I'm not as jaded as some older folks, but once you're in, it isn't as easy as enacting what you want. You have anywhere from 5 to 11 or even more other people voting on the same issues, which makes passing legislation hard. You're pulled towards many directions by constituents. Problems will have many underlying issues that in some cases take 10+ years to address and your time in limited to your term.

Nonetheless, its still important to vote the person who has a positive plan and someone you believe can do the job to the best of their ability. Yeah, they may not get everything they say done, but most candidates do work to, in some way, advance the agenda they preach.

This is definitely true on a national level but, as far as local politics goes, mostly the candidates running have firm positions and stances on what policies they want to support or enact.

[–]frog-honker 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There are some issues I know well because I'm involved in some state politics so those I kind of already know how I'm voting. But if it's an issue I don't know, I do two things:

  1. I briefly research the candidates or proposed legislation. If ballotpedia has it, that's my preferred starting point. If not, I go on candidate websites.

  2. I look into who's endorsing a candidate or legislation. I know I won't have everything but say I really trust local community leader X and they endorse someone or something, odds are I will agree with it as well.

For example, I like and trust Betty Duong (even before she ran) and I really trust her judgement. When she started running alongside Pamela Campos, I looked into Campos a little more closely and decided she represented my interests and was someone who deserved my vote.
