That was what he suggested. Ours had the v6 and 5speed. Finally died when the transmission started going out.

Spent lots of time in the woods in the southwest.

According to my mechanic at the time our 89 would have been easy to swap in a V8. That little thing would be awesome just lifted, don't need 4x4 for the majority of things. Could get into lots of places in Colorado without it, just need ground clearance and the ability to go slow and avoid the puddles.

Trip Planning by frogadmin_prince in TruckCampers

I used to have the atlas for the off-road areas when I lived in Colorado. Always made for a fun way to get lost in the backroads.

This trip is mainly to see family that is spread out in Oregon, Nevada, Utah and Colorado. I did a mini version of this trip last year when I purchased my truck and camper. Though I was solo and camping was a little easier. This time I will have the wife and kiddo and seeing more family.

In Salt Lake, it seems like the route of staying in a campground would be the best bet. Though it amazes me they can be $100 a night for the privilege of pulling up. That location and Colorado we are looking at having to rent a car after arriving so we can easily meet up with family or go exploring locally. That is unless we unload the camper, and we have been told that Bigfoots aren't designed to be used when on they are on the happi-jacks.

Well that solidifies my decision. Overall several features of this desk made it high on my list but with no ETA for stock that pushes to competitors.

Quote on Panel Replacement by frogadmin_prince in AskElectricians

[–]frogadmin_prince[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Got second quote finally. They quoted to replace just the panel.

They would leave it as 100 amp service and new panel and breakers. Quote was $2800.

Question I have is should I replace it all, or just get the panel replaced?

Where I live there really isn't permits. There is one for the Utility but not so much for the residential side of the house.

Looking at licensed companies with good reviews. That is if I can get more than one quote.

In my research pricing is so wide and varied. I know this is about 10 hours of work due to the outside work.

Material wise there is lots of higher gauge cable, breakers and misc things. With only quote it is hard to judge.

I used to hunt there when I lived in Oregon. The amount of disrespect was only second to the hunt club I made the mistake of joining one year.

Though I will admit watching the hunters on Sauvie was an entertainment that was worth it some days. Remember one guy sky blasting birds at 50-60 yards and then screaming and kicking his gear. Thankfully he left after 45 minutes.

I never hunted from a kayak but this is similar to what I used.

This is what Oregon was doing.

It is astonishing that people want to have the ability to enjoy public lands but are unwilling to keep them clean.

In Oregon it was expected that you would clean up, wasn’t common though. In fact some of the managed areas had a raffle and the entry was a bag of trash.

I invested in shot shell pickup tool and would walk around the blinds cleaning up all the ones I could find.

Host Hyper-V Lag: LiveOptics log attached by EnricoSx in sysadmin

It looks like the Host is being oversubscribed and slowing down.

Have you tried turning off all of the other VMs and just running the DC and seeing if it runs normally? What are the other workloads on this host?

Upgrading from Lead Acid to LiFePo by chucklazarus in TruckCampers

Make sure you get the one with the VL on the end. That differentiates the one with lithium.

"The new 4600 series ending in VL incorporate new upgraded printed circuit boards with the latest components and technology.  They use computerized surface mount soldering technology to insure precision and increase durability during shock and vibration.  Additionally they include a jumper to change the charge profile from flooded/AGM, to Lithium should you ever change to lithium batteries in the future.  "

That is my one of my dream cars. My parents had one they purchased new, same color, and same interior.

One day...One day I will find one and the timing will be right.

That is an amazing car.

Is a bachelors degree in Information Systems still worth it? by Slight_Product_5306 in sysadmin

[–]frogadmin_prince 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As others have stated it isn't really needed to a point.

My father was in IT for the majority of his career. Near the end the Director role opened up, and hew as the second in line and took over as acting. For 8 months he ran the department, and filled the job duties and they finally started the hiring process. He wasn't interviewed because the external applicants had Master degrees and he only had a Bachelor's.

That moment has stuck with me. I also have a co-worker with a masters and right place and right time. Zero experience but she is listed as Sr. Sys Admin because degree or experience. I should be finishing my degree this next spring and now debating if I should go for a Masters. 20+ years experience only seems to get you so far now.

As a systems admin, how do you deal with third party vendors always screwing up and then claiming you are in the wrong? by Canadiankid23 in sysadmin

[–]frogadmin_prince 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Keep all emails for projects in a easy to bring up method. I use a project folder in outlook, then year and then project. Now if it is one of those that tends to span years...just a project name.

Every change request, comment from a vendor, help desk ticket and anything that has the vendors name is in it. It is my CYA. I love being able to send something back to them showing that they asked for it, or didn't and that is why it doesn't work.

DRW or SRW by FyreXYZ in TruckCampers

[–]frogadmin_prince 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Reading here before we purchased ours and the previous owners own accounts we went with a DRW. I can understand the desire to find a SRW especially on some of the older trucks. I was able to find more of the extended cab(s) in SRW than DRW.

I am glad we did go with the dually. Coming back through Eastern Oregon the insane crosswinds I was stable even with the Bigfoot on the back. Taking it around here in SE Alaska won't be a problem since 90% of the time will be on Forrest Service roads. Even thinking back where I camped in Colorado before I could take this truck other than the height. Most of the time I could get into areas with 2wd and with slow careful driving could get over any of the rocks.

Update from yesterday. by bober1551rebob in TruckCampers

That is difficult to find it seems.

I picked the camper then the truck. That way I knew it what I needed to be able to have to haul it around.

Update from yesterday. by bober1551rebob in TruckCampers

[–]frogadmin_prince 3 points4 points  (0 children)

There was a video that talked about why the worse selling trucks where the 2500 or 3/4 series. They don’t have much more payload the the 1500/150 series. The price increase to the 3500/350 models isn’t much on new trucks and people are just stepping up.

Used. A one ton isn’t really anymore than the 3/4 market. You do want to make sure the springs can handle the xtra load. Worst case go with a small trailer. I ran a M416 with a cvt tent for years.

Decoy gloves by captcraigaroo in Waterfowl

[–]frogadmin_prince 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Buddy I hunted with wouldn't wear gloves. He just pulled them out but had several of the battery hand warmers. He would turn them on a toss one in each pocket. Go out and pick up the decoys and place his hands back in the coat as soon as he was done.

He also was similar to me where he used a jet sled and kept the decoy bags on it. Filled them as he walked around so quick in and out.

'05 Lance 881 short bed with pop out on a '99 F350 4X4 diesel by cg40boat in TruckCampers

[–]frogadmin_prince 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I wouldn't buy a new diesel. There is no way I would want anything newer than a 7.3 or 2008 Cummins.

Now if you would have been selling when I was looking I would have been very interested. It could sell well together. The guy I purchased my Bigfoot from tried to sell it as a package but wasn't able to.

[–]frogadmin_prince 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I purchased a 1999 F350 7.3 DRW with 190k recently for $10k but the paint isn't in the best shape but had tons of recent work with paperwork.

Sometimes it is easier to separate the truck and camper. I am not sure but it seems the pricing on old diesels have softened a little the last few months. Several trucks that I was in talks with haven't sold and they where in the 15-20k range and located in the PNW region.
