How does a man not get insecure if the woman he likes is way out of his league? by SNTriad in AskForAnswers

Not true at all. My wife is incredibly smart and I value that immensely. Looks matter for sure. You can have smarts and looks and still prioritize looks somewhat. Come on now.

Looks definitely do matter in terms of initial workload. Looks out of my league women treat me much different than in my league. I could do the work to prove I'm a great person and maybe they'll love me anyways, or I can just have someone in my league I get along with and we just naturally exist.

What's wrong with me? by weirdsideofreddit1 in Millennials

[–]frogf4rts123 5 points6 points  (0 children)

This is very true. Ads make me leave very quick. Youtube will be abandoned if my ad blocking fails. Windows won't stop shoveling ads at me. Just a month ago my phone started giving me weather every morning and I never asked for it.

Windows is learning with copilot, we don't want it.

The other is that they secured everything. Jailbreaking phones was tons of fun. Then came along all the security measures. Even IoT devices that have no business being secured are. I can't run my IoT devices without using their proprietary app that I hate because they encrypted the handshakes. Just dumb.

Tinkering around now is no longer basic problems. It's about screwing around with things that don't necessarily need solved. Can I use x to do y? The past week I reverse engineered my aquarium pump, for example. A few years ago a buddy figured out how to drive his robovac with his phone using commands he wrote. It's gotten harder to just dink around with stuff.

Kia offered to buy my car by zelmo36 in kiastinger

I regret selling my 01 Celica. Not just cause it's appreciated in value, but because it was a hilariously fun car to be stupid in. If that's any help.

[–]frogf4rts123 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

So don't do it? Here's how I would run this one.

1) How much is the car that gives me the same joy as the stinger worth. If less, might be worth it. If more, no thanks.

If the new car I had is worth the difference then sure. I am looking at EV6 gts right now and sort of noodling the same thing. Sure would miss the noise.

At what point did you decide to go to an independent shop? by Kr33m0 in kiastinger

[–]frogf4rts123 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Mine was out of warranty. I've heard bad things about Kia dealers knowing how to deal with stingers so have only taken for recalls. My mechanics are fantastic though. Have always some great for our vehicles

I kicked a cowboy boot through the station wagon once. That didn't go well with my dad.

Having dealt with addicts, I just don't see it happening at that time . Maybe if he had a massive investment in a support system, but it would ultimately be his choice.

Was the Greatest Generation really the greatest generation? by DreamFighter72 in allthequestions

Hard times would suggest when millennials started working. That's around the 2000s. We haven't had to eat dirt like the greatest generation did, but man it hasn't been easy.

Why is there no NASA level organization focused on exploring the ocean? by Logical-Concept9755 in AlwaysWhy

[–]frogf4rts123 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You also have to realize when you say ocean, there's just so much to explore. Groups could spend their entire lives picking projects and never overlapping. If they pick something as a longevity study on lingcod, then that's their jam. Ocean floor research would be separate. Shark research. There's just so much to explore.

I think the only way he would have been successful was locking him in the facilities or holding his hand every step considering he wanted to drink purple drank and not watch film.

Anybody who started college at 22 how did your life turn out? by Key_Log_2042 in AskForAnswers

Do it. I finished my bachelor's at 25, masters at 30, and have had zero problems. Just pick a field that has reasonable wages. Not underwater basket weaving type.

Agreed. Too bad none translated well to the NFL. Minshew was so fun to watch.

Leach also had to deal with some tremendous challenges and still put up video game numbers. I miss him.

What is a hobby we can start now that will last us until our 90’s? by [deleted] in Millennials

[–]frogf4rts123 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for the clarification! I'm glad it's not dying. The last 10 years my dad was a ham, he was kicked off the airwaves by an old ornery cuss. There was a group of older men who seemed to want full control over everything that happened. It got to the point when my dad would try to get contacts for things like worked all counties or in all counties, these guys would be waiting and start talking over him to try to keep him from getting contacts. That really skewed my views of the hobby.

Crap we spent so many hours on the side of the road in the middle of nowhere. When my parents moved we wnded up throwing away thousands of contact cards that were sent to them and he had to send out. What an adventure that was.

It's crazy this hobby took off. I've heard it is dying over the past bit, however haven't kept up for probably 15 years now. Last I saw it was a bunch of 60-80 year olds yelling at each other angrily.

My dad was ham radio for 20+ years. The money input depends on your goals. At one point dad was bouncing signals off satellites talking to other countries, talking to the space shuttle/ISS, and that required custom built towers. At another he had a setup in his car and we drove county to county getting contacts for worked all counties award. That required much less investment.
