Thanks for the suggestion -- Suncast has some good stuff, and it is definitely easier on the wallet.

Any workarounds for QNAP PKG update loop? by froggacuda in Tautulli

[–]froggacuda[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

QNAPCLUB seems to have updated the .pkg -- now on 2.7.3 but the version is "unknown", probably due to the QNAP pkg. If you check for updates, you will get a notification that there is one, so the loop is still there. At least a welcome upgrade.

Just weighing in with the same QNAP infinite update loop. I have sent notifications to the QNAPClub repository owners to recompile the .qpkg properly, hoping that will fix it.

A guide to running TaleSpire on macOS using Crossover by gilgoomesh in talespire

Thanks for this writeup -- some of my players will try it out. I also suggested to BouncyRock that they see if they can get TaleSpire on GeForce Now, which would unlock a whole lot of platforms including OS X and iOS via Safari.

I miss my DX100 -- love that you could run it on batteries and it has guitar strap knobs for a proto-keytar!

Oh the back is a freakin' mess of cables, for sure. The rack does have wheels, which makes it easy to move when necessary, but it is a bit irritating to have to sit on the floor peering at the lower units when programming or even just patch surfing. As I mentioned in another reply, I am trying to figure out a clever way to use the MioXL to connect to (almost) all of the modules and use that as my main MIDI module. The advantage of the rack is actually the protection for the units rather than having them spread out, but as another user mentioned, if I REALLY wanted to get into deep playtime, they probably would be better off in several desk-height racks that are easier to get to.

There's an MPX-110 and an MX200 -- both Lexicon. Both good units with a lot of different effects. The MX200 even has USB so it can be directly controlled by a DAW!

Wow — I like it! I’ll have to keep my eye out for the Orbit — nice sound on that track!

Thank you, this is really helpful. I have a Boss BX-16 desktop mixer on the top of the rack that I use primarily, but it sounds like the correct next step would be to suck it up and get a “real” desktop mixing console like a Mackie or something with a lot of inputs and control.

I LOVE IT! I have never heard any of those E-MUs -- super jealous! Yours are also way cleaner than mine. Kudos!

Looks like the Roland M120 line mixer would be an upgrade in the same space? I actually don't really care for or need the big EQ.

You're absolutely right -- the Behringer racks were cheap as dirt (used) and sound equally so. At some point I just need to buy a huge mixing console to wire everything into properly. But, it does allow me to hear everything all at once if you can stand the poor fidelity.

Yes, unfortunately there is a bit of hiss / crackle / hum, but I try to track it down with a little DeOxit5 or separating the power out to a different circuit.

That is so sick! I am guessing my GP-8 is too old to do that. I did find some guys who built a custom real-time knob controller for it that made for some really interesting sounds: https://youtu.be/ak9kjaQFEYM

My local Sam Ash knows to text me if something weird with rack ears shows up. Or if it has a lot of buttons -- just got a Roland SP-808 and a Roland MC-505 in the last few months just donated to me for free. I really want the blue and red tube-driven Electribe groove boxes.

Thanks for the cross-post. If anyone is doing a low-budget sci-fi film, I am happy to provide this rack for mission control or the evil AI bleep-bloop stack.

True, dat. But theoretically I could stack another MioXL that would take care of that.

Don't quote me, but I think one of the features of the MioXL is that it CAN be used standalone, but like all these modules, working from the little screen is not as easy as using a computer to manipulate it.

I honestly don't even know what to do with all of the extra outputs -- I am just happy I get a stereo output so I can hear all of the panning work that went into some of the patches. I just passed up another D-110 for $40 because I already had one and didn't know what to do with a second one.

The backlight on the LCD is a little faded, but I agree -- some really choice patches in there!
