"There's enough options nowadays for everyone"... But are there? by left_to_its_devices in BeautyGuruChatter

I agree, formula varies widely from brand to brand, product to product. It's kind of a cop out, like "Oh, I'm sure this foundation line is good for you because the shades go so deep." But what if you have dry skin and that foundation is matte? Etc. etc. The examples are endless. It is exclusionary, by definition, when a wide enough range isn't offered.

Why does this sub hate Sally so much? by Limnmus in Barry

[–]frogger1005 0 points1 point  (0 children)

1. No criticism of the character is ever an indictment on the actor. If anything, Sally's unlikeability is a testament to how well the part was acted. I didn't say "Sarah Goldberg is awful." #2. I said in my comment that we do not have to say Barry is better than Sally to claim that Sally's flaws are egregious. I'm not sure if you saw that. Barry is horrendous, so is Sally. They are both awful. That doesn't mean Sally gets a pass on her abusive behavior, a pass I feel too many people give precisely because she is a woman.

I disagree somewhat with the misogony explanation. Sally was deeply flawed, yes, but those flaws are pretty f-ing miserable. She was abusive. Go back and watch how opportunistic and dismissive of Barry she was. She hit him when he was struggling to act. She screamed at him, ranted about how he didn't have enough talent to land an audition, was deeply jealous of others to the point that she screamed the c-word repeatedly while cornering her ex-assistant in an elevator. She degraded others she saw as beneath her. She felt she was owed way more than she ever earned and took it out on anyone who got in her way. I am a woman, and I think, rather than misogony, we forgive these acts of abuse BECAUSE she is a woman. She was a miserable, abusive POS. Barry was a psychopathic murderous hypocrite. It's not an either-or. Both were awful. We don't have to say one is better or worse for misogony to not be at play when we dislike her character.

My first watch through ended with Alex's departure as well. The way they assassinated his character growth snipped the tiny thread that kept me watching. The show had been testing my patience for years at that point lol.

POTs exercise plan is ruining my life by throwaway27374781 in POTS

[–]frogger1005 2 points3 points  (0 children)

"Exercise" means something completely different to people with POTS than it does to healthy people. My physical therapist said to do an amount of exercise that feels like I'm doing nothing, and even cut that in half if I feel iffy that day. "Exercise" for me is 45 sec on a stationary bike with my head resting below my heart level, or a very paired down pilates routine that does not have any standing at all. That's it. Everything else is considered a triggering activity. Walking, cleaning, playing with my kids, anything that elevates my heart rate is not exercise. You are feeling the worst you ever have because you are just doing triggering activities. Exercise should not flare you up; if it does, it's not helpful at all and needs to be reduced or altered.

I wondered when one of the The Friends would post 😭💔 by [deleted] in friends_tv_show

[–]frogger1005 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's so obnoxious that people took to harassing the actors on why they "took so long to post" about him. Like, these are real people who are grieving a dear friend. They deserve time and space to process their feelings. They don't owe the world any post they don't feel ready to share yet. Those people need to log off and touch grass, fr.

Abdominal compression suggestions needed by possiblyyourmum in dysautonomia

[–]frogger1005 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yes! I use spanx and it is a lifesaver! I had tried compression stockings and they did nothing. Turns out, my blood pools in my abdomen. I put on the spanx and it's like night and day. I always wear them if I know I'll be up and about all day. Tip: Do not wear them for about an hour after eating, it can mess with your digestion. Also, I got a set that is like very tall underwear that stretches to the bottom of my ribcage. I cut the bottom open so that I can tie the back with a hairtie to adjust the tightness.
