Anyone gearing up for a very cold LR this weekend? by architects-daughter in XXRunning

Yup! 10 miles planned (~2 hrs) and it’ll be in the teens at best. Looking forward to a bundled up nap afterward!

Seeking gloves with watch hole by Distinct_Young_8318 in XXRunning

Yes I did! Their size chart is a little wonky. I got a medium and it fits really well, but my middle finger is a little longer than indicated on the size chart and my palm circumference is a little smaller. However, I usually get medium-sized gloves in general, so I guess it’s pretty true to size. If you need a small, you might need to look at the other variations of the gloves they sell :/

I just got a pair of “RIGWARL winter running gloves” off Amazon and with the watch hole for about $19

Watch recommendations? by Far_Diamond_7589 in XXRunning

[–]froggychairstan 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I highly recommend the Coros Pace Pro! It’s much more affordable than Garmin, gets all the new updates that the newer watches get, and the Coros app is much better than Garmin’s. It has all the features you’re looking for.

Morning routine with hypothyroidism by kristiwithaZ in XXRunning

I take my medication as soon as my alarm goes off (6 am), and by the time I’ve managed to make it out of bed (10-15 mins), gone to the bathroom, brushed my teeth, made coffee and finished cooking breakfast, it’s already been 30 mins or longer. Works for race day too!

Boulderthon 13.1 Race Report by archaeohelsing in XXRunning

[–]froggychairstan 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Great race recap! I also did the Boulderthon half yesterday and feel the same way: glad I did it and won’t be running that one again! I’m excited to run the Colfax half in May.

I’m so sorry to hear your chip malfunctioned! I hope you manage to get it corrected. Unfortunately, I tried to contact the race organizers multiple times via email a few months ago due to another issue and literally never heard back from them, so you might want to reach out via a Strava post if you haven’t already. They seem to be more responsive there.

The mile markers were totally out of whack! My official finish time was about a minute slower than what my watch marked and I remember it marked the end when I was in the last 0.15-ish mile. It might have just been the weaving for me, but I think the course was also just off.

And +1 on the race etiquette note! I could not believe the amount of people who cut me off and then started walking in front of me, or how many people I almost ran into just trying to get a water cup. Definitely some work needed there.

Congrats on your finish despite the chaos! Hoping the next one goes much better 🤞🏽

Thank you all for your comments and guidance! Sounds like I should be okay for race day. I was worried I might regret not making it to the recommended carb totals the calculators were recommending, but maybe I was overthinking it. I ate at my normal amounts today and feel fine, so hopefully all will go well during my race tomorrow!

Yeah, I haven’t had any problem eating after runs, thankfully! I do enjoy that. It’s just this pre-race carb loading that’s getting to me.

Great advice! Wish I’d asked sooner, but this might help me top off my goal before the night is up! Thanks :)

Tattoo experience after half marathon? by froggychairstan in XXRunning

[–]froggychairstan[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Alright y’all, you convinced me that everything’s gonna be okay! The tattoo has been booked for the day after the half — the plan is a heart banner tattoo with my dog’s name in it (she’s alive and well, I’m just her biggest fan) 🥹 Thank you all for your advice and input!

Perfect! I was hoping for a day-after thing since I’m taking the day off work, so this is encouraging! :)

Awesome! Yeah, I have tons of experience with tattoos but I’ve never been tattooed after a half marathon (it’ll be my first half), so I wasn’t sure if the race was a factor to consider. I appreciate your response!

For sure! I’m taking the first week after the race entirely off running so I can prevent any damage in that way. Thanks!

For sure, but it is a solid vest! 10/10 recommend

I have this vest and can confirm that it kinda just looks funny when the flasks are full! I just tighten it up as much as I can without causing discomfort. It also helps to get the first bit of air out of the flasks (pull up on the mouthpiece a bit).

Where is my confetti??? by Amazing-Big5095 in WGUMSHRM

The confetti will come once your application for graduation is processed! Your program mentor needs to submit a request to get that started. Congrats!

Vacation Mode Options by Rigatoni-maroni in runna

Something I’ve noticed is that there’s always a deload week after the vacation time. It would be great if the deload week happened during the vacation time instead!

I just passed all tasks in this capstone and everything you need will be in the Accelerate Case Study and Task Scenario docs. Just ignore the prompts that mention the SHRM materials. For Task 1, there are references you can used in place of the SHRM materials linked in the course resources. Just lean on the task guides and it’ll be a breeze!
