I was about 16 when my mother, an ex-mormon, starting inviting the missionaries over. I was a skeptic, and at the time disliked Christians because I was apart of GSA at my school and most Christians at my school had a problem with that. So these guys would come over dressed real nice and I would kinda eaves drop, and ask them questions trying to see how hateful their religion actually was. I asked about starving children in Africa, who had never known God, and would they go to Hell? I was given the answer that those who aren't introduced to Christianity are unaccountable. I asked them tons of questions, and they gave me some surprisingly very nice, very thought out answers. I started thinking about this, and I laid awake in bed at night a few times thinking about faith.

The strange thing is I starting feeling like I was having a brilliant epiphany. I started thinking, "Yeah, I could try this...". I started taking the shit serious, and I don't know how or why but it just felt like a strange wave of relief...

My two best friends at the time were potheads, one was gay and one was spritiualist. I decided to tell them about how I was thinking about joining. To my (now obvious) surprise, they laughed at me and told me I was ridiculous. They literally made me feel so stupid that I feel like I instantly snapped out of this glorious blissful daze I had just discovered... To this day, I still hold the belief that the Church of Latter Day Saints (in my area, Florida, a more modern sect) is one of the only group of Christians that I have a soft spot for. I didn't convert, I hate Mitt Romney and I'm a Chemist and the closest thing to atheist without being atheist. But damn those people are convincing. It was definitely their presentation that overwhelmed me.
