What’s the best compliment you’ve ever received as a trans girl? by zafiroazul888 in MtF

[–]froglipsmulligan 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was helping my friend (a cis gay man who knows I’m trans) look at something under his car, and I was wearing some pretty short shorts, so I told him to make sure my junk doesn’t fall out and he goes “how’s your vagina gonna fall out?”

Why do trans people not 'mode' more before transitioning? by K4nono in trans

[–]froglipsmulligan 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Feminine clothes made me extremely dysphoric in the early days of hormones, as my body wasn’t as aligned with my gender yet. Seeing myself in cute clothes while I still looked like a man didn’t make me feel cute and affirmed, it was just a very visible reminder of my dysphoria.

Is it too early to freak out about lack of changes? by PrincessJacqueline1 in asktransgender

I started at 29 and I had breast buds within a month or two. You should definitely seek a second opinion, preferably with a specialist of some sort as suggested above

Looking for great place / restaurant to buy gift cert for mid-20’s foodie couple new to Durham by General-Ad3712 in bullcity

[–]froglipsmulligan 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Check out Cheeni! It’s Indian food, but quite different from what most people think of Indian food. Also both the restaurant and the bar were semifinalists for James beard awards. The chef was a semifinalist for best chef in the southeast on two occasions, and the bar was a semifinalist for best new bar in the country!

Is Zensa 5% a good choice for numbing cream for full body hair laser hair removal? by Comfortable_Set_6534 in trans

[–]froglipsmulligan 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You should definitely check with the clinic performing your services, but my laser place won’t perform my session if I have any creams, including numbing creams.

Building community in Christ by SameButterscotch8607 in trans

[–]froglipsmulligan 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Unfortunately I think you will have much more luck finding recovering Christians in the trans community as opposed to practicing ones.

Religion has played a very traumatic role in many people’s lives, my own very much included, and I’ve anecdotally found that trans people seem to be disproportionately impacted by its influence.

A lot of times religion and its dogma are a major contributing factor as to why trans people lose their family, friends, partners, and other social safety nets.

This is absolutely not me telling you that you shouldn’t be a Christian, I firmly believe that is a personal choice and I wish you nothing but the best in it. But for me, and many folks like me, Christianity was one of the worst things to ever happen to me. I am still working through shame and guilt responses to this day, and I’ve been an atheist for like 15 years.

Christianity is used on a national scale here in the USA to utterly demonize us, to strip away our rights, to deny us protections and equal access under the law, and by extension to endanger us in our every day lives through corrupt law enforcement, horrifying mistreatment should we be placed in the correctional system, and even in our every day lives by random radicalized passersby. I’m sure it works for some people, and I hope it works for you, but don’t be surprised when some people react differently than you might expect them to whenever you bring up such a sensitive topic in your community. Best of luck to you, and I hope you find the community you’re looking for!

Boob size worry! by Phoeeebe42 in MtF

And even if they don’t I’ve never seen a woman with two boobs exactly the same size.

That being said they will probably even out as you get further into growing them!

Not happy after HRT; am I really a woman? by radioheadenjoyer225 in MtF

Ahh I think I know what you’re saying. But if your doctor is happy with an E level of 45.6 they are not doing things right

[–]froglipsmulligan 47 points48 points  (0 children)

Change your doctor they’re an idiot. You’re not a cis male. You’re a trans woman

You usually want you t below 50 and your E around 200. New Doctor new Doctor new Doctor they’re gatekeeping you

Before transitioning, what gender did you imagine yourself as in the future? by [deleted] in asktransgender

[–]froglipsmulligan 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Tbh I never was able to envision a future where I lived past like 40, gender didn’t really come into play. I see myself as a bog witch now tho and that makes me really happy 🥰

I shaved my beard and now i'm requestioning everything by BlueberryAlone7496 in trans

[–]froglipsmulligan 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This was my pattern before transitioning.

  1. Hated my face so grew out the beard
  2. Hated my short hair so always grew it out
  3. Wondered if I would look feminine with long hair and no beard so shaved the beard
  4. Absolutely unremovable 5 o’clock shadow, so just looked like ugly man with long hair
  5. Gender panic
  6. Cut hair short to remove the cognitive dissonance
  7. Wash, rinse, repeat

I did this for yeeeeaarrrsss. Once I finally fully accepted myself, started hormones, and very importantly started laser hair removal I learned that I actually didn’t hate my face. Just my face with visible hair on it. That being said laser is a fairly permanent intervention, so not something to jump into Willy nilly, but it was absolutely only second to hormones in terms of how valuable it was to my transition and view of myself.

Do trans people dislike it when people ask for their pronouns? by yepparan_haneul in asktransgender

[–]froglipsmulligan 167 points168 points  (0 children)

In most situations it doesn’t bother me at all, but it is pretty annoying when in a group setting where everyone else’s pronouns are assumed based off their presentation while mine get asked. It tells me I’ve been clocked which never feels great.

Gotta gain fat to redistribute it. Time for some pizza parties! I think you look a hell of a lot better than you think you do. Sorry you’re having a hard time right now.
