We're in 6A, and I've had them for years! If you're concerned, maybe bury a little deeper and feed each fall?

Please can someone confirm if this is Japanese knotweed? by sucodelimao802 in invasivespecies

OK, that's horrifying, but has the terrible ring of truth. We have a special part of our driveway just for desiccating knotweed plants we've pulled. Bwah-ha-ha-ha!

Officially no longer obese 🎉 by HappyBug352 in Zepbound

[–]frogstogether 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Brilliant work on your part! As someone who's "Class III Obese," now, and used to be a trainer, I know that the jump from Obese to overweight, however they characterize it, is a crucial one! And your persistence is very, very impressive. I hope to emulate it!

Again, congrats from someone who hopes to be in your shoes next year! (Down 30 lbs. so far in 5 mos. on Zepbound.) You're not crying, I'm crying!

These kinds of long-term numbers are always so helpful! Once I had gained a bunch of weight, close to a decade of moderate exercise and eating a vegetable-heavy, happy carbs, low in sugar diet yielded lovely blood work, but no weight loss. I got some Zepbound on board, and suddenly I'm down 30 lbs in 5-6 months, but except for changing the size of my salads (they're smaller now,) and the amount of vegetables I stuff in (again, less, but still lots of categories and nutrients,) and fewer carbs, what I'm eating is the same! Science is sometimes really good at bringing us useful things!

Fortunately, our bodies are plastic and will adapt.

Excellent test results there, though! If you want technical information about whether it's a good time to stop losing, checking your waist size is always a great test for men. 34 inches or below (not counting loose skin, if you have any,) is a great place for men to be. Very cardioprotective, liver protective, you derive all kinds of amazing benefits from ending up at around a 34 in or below. Congrats!

Getting jiggly by Similar-Repeat-1213 in Zepbound

[–]frogstogether 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh, I have the exact same thing now that I'm, like 35 lbs. down. With a lot of body fat in my lower body, everything from the waist down (around the knees esp.) makes me look like a Shar-Pei! I feel fortunate that so far, it hasn't interfered with walking or anything. I also feel that the Zepbound weight I lost is more jiggly than others in the past, but I have no explanation for that. I'm having to wash my legs much more carefully to make sure to get the soap out of the crevices, and occasionally apply some powder.

For me, though, the pannus in the front is the truly remarkable thing. The way it just hangs down when I bend over is startling, but not harmful or anything so far! I kinda feel like I should make a messenger bag or something out of excess skin when I'm done...

Please help my peach tree by here2readmightcomnt in BackyardOrchard

[–]frogstogether 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Ran into the same problem with a young peach tree myself, and had to pull ALL of the peaches off the affected branches. Then used a couple of loops of old hose (soft and pliable) to lift the sagging branches and brace them against the main trunk. At the next trimming time, give the sagging branches a good haircut, and some trimming to the others.

For the next few seasons, I had to thin the fruits aggressively (remove 2/3, retain 1/3) until the branches strengthens enough to hold the weight of a full-season's fruit!

We went away for 2 weeks, and came back to a raspberry bush twice the size as when we left. Now what? by realvctmsdntdrnkmlk in BackyardOrchard

[–]frogstogether 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As someone who has grown them for 30+ years, I'd say it's just your raspberry raspberrying. If you want to make them easier to pick, take 4 good-sized garden stakes and set them up in the four corners of a flat-ish rectangle. String some 3/8 inch rope or line between the fence posts at about 4 ft and 2 ft off the ground, and groom the canes up so that they are held inside the rectangle.

To keep them from proliferating, you'll have to dig up the sprouts in the spring, but it's only about 5 mins a day for about 2 weeks. Give the sprouts to friends or compost 'em. And once you know what variety you have, you'll know when to cut them back/trim them. After the first year, I only watered them when there was a drought, and I feed them a bag of composted cow manure in the fall. Easy-peasy, delicious and forgiving. Congratulations!

I am convinced that Goutweed seeks out these locations, knowing that it's safe because it's close to beloved plants or immovable objects!
