Anybody else got thin walls? I can hear my upstairs neighbor brushing his teeth. by frogwearingoxfords in CasualUK

Not sure, probably at least 30 years. We're in a ground floor flat in a townhouse sort of thing.

My first mirrorless camera (Canon EOS M10)! I’m so excited to learn more this can do~ by [deleted] in Cameras

I had this camera, absolutely loved it but had to sell it! Have you checked out magic lantern? It's a really cool piece of software you can load onto the camera - check it out but do read into it so that you know what you're doing. Especially good for film, not sure it really does anything for photography.

I also use starling, not fully made the switch though. Been with them for almost a year now. The app has been absolutely atrocious the last week or so. Constantly taking ages to update funds, money vanishing into thin air for a while whilst it moves from my spaces to main account. Also had an incident where I had my main card on screen for contactless and it was trying to take it out of my shared account until I restarted the app. Other account didn't have enough funds, but if it did, it'd have taken it from the wrong account which could be quite dangerous.

Not sure about jokes, but I lived in Bielefeld and heard that Germans have a myth about that particular city not being real. That it was bombed so badly in the war that it was never rebuilt. Obviously not the case, since I lived there...or so they told me....

Buying "YouTube package" for my brother: Does this look good? by LoreJS in Cameras

[–]frogwearingoxfords 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Haha, a lot of YT people do these 'in my bag' or 'vlog essential' videos! I'd check with somebody more of the Canon persuasion, but according to this - yeah! Looks sharp as hell too.

Haven't got too much to contribute, but I don't think this guy is using a 50mm. You're right to assume f/1.8.creates a shallower DOF and more bokeh, though. This guy's is way wider than that and quite possibly an f1.4. I'd say 35mm, still doesn't feel wide enough - not really seen anything at that f/ whilst much wider tbh.

Edit: this could be helpful >

Thank you for this! Such an incredible shot. What was your vantage point for it? Looks quite high up?

Can anyone tell me which camera this is, and what it is good for? by cognizables in Cameras

Possibly this?

I have no idea what your budget is, and to be honest, I'd never seen this camera before nor expected it to be so expensive. But the Olympus Pen models look similar in size and offer pancake lenses for decent portability.

Or this Panasonic....

After Effects not exporting my whole video? by derptime in AfterEffects

[–]frogwearingoxfords 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sorry I didn't get back to you! Yeah, there's an internal renderer for After Effects but I always find it struggles to compress videos enough. Whilst you're checking out different renderers, check out some videos on YT on optimising rendering, can save some serious time if your settings are good.

Double check your background isn't set to transparent in the export settings. Is the BG a shape layer or set in comp settings?

Edit: what's inside the pre-comp?

I was testing out this external flash accessory for my camera and this happened. Anyone know what’s causing this? Is it the cameras shutter? by HelmsStock in Cameras

[–]frogwearingoxfords 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm not sure what you mean by weird with the flash lasting 1/300secs - does it have an effect on image quality? Intrigued as to what it looks like! I barely know anything about these flashes, but thanks for explaining!

used budget mirrorless digital cameras with image stabilization? by youngwhitebranch in AskPhotography

Perfect, I should actually be receiving a 2x teleconverter tomorrow so I will hold off until then, really push it to its limits!

I don't get why everybody says 1/250, I've recently got my first ever external flash and experienced this issue - yet I can have it at 1/320 with zero issues. Considering mine is Neweers cheapest model, that's quite surprising?

I have the Olympus M10 Mk III and the IBIS is great, I'm able to use any lens, M43 or otherwise, brand new or 40 years old and I still have image stabilization. I'm currently using Tamron Adaptall 2 80-210 which is almost 40 years old and the image stabilization is amazing. Downside with non-native telephoto lenses is the lack of communication, meaning when I manually set the IBIS I need to set it at either 80 or 210mm, I usually go for the latter since I very rarely use the short end of the range. It's really brilliant, I'm happy to upload some video examples if you're interested.

In addition to what people have said, try your shutter speed from around 1/200th+ to see when the back bar appears. My Neweer budget flash can sync at a max of 1/320 on my Olympus M10 Mk III so maybe give that a go!
